Eh, the Locos Tacos are OK, but that's about it.  The flavor of the shells isn't strong enough.

Taco Bell needs to bring back the shrimp taco, that thing was awesome.

Oh come on! There's only one flavor of Doritos® (other than the original plain) that should ever have been a taco shell, namely, the original:

(I suppose Taco Supreme or Late Night Taco could do in a pinch, but nothing touches the original.)

Remember their Cantina Tacos? Probably the only time Taco Bell ever sold anything even remotely resembling real Mexican food. And far and away less sodium than any other entrée on their entire menu (only soft drinks had less).

I don't need Taco Bell to be real Mexican , I have plenty of options for real Mexican, but I'd like them to come up with special items that were a bit more interesting.

I think they had a chicken-bacon burrito a few years back rthat was good.  That, and like I mentioned the Shrimp Taco.

To paraphrase: I know salsa verde, I grew up with salsa verde, and Taco Bell, that isn't salsa verde. I understand TB is Tex-Mex and not very good Tex-Mex, but their salsa verde is disgusting.

Buffalo Doritos are delicious, but I've only ever found them in a bag with half ranch, and I don't want the ranch chips.

/living in San Antonio I've learned there are hundreds of chip flavors most places don't have
//chorizo and queso Ruffles?  Sure
///and everything has a chile con limon flavor

If they have to do yet another non-taco flavor as a taco shell, that would be my choice as well. Those were good. The Jumpin' Jack ones from about the same time would also be pretty good.

How many of those "plenty of options for real Mexican" are fast food that you can get in a Drive-Thru?

But yes, the Shrimp Taco was yummy. I just like having something flavorful without blowing my daily sodium budget on lunch alone.

Holly hell yes.

The promotion was supposed to be a month long; the local places sold out within 2 weeks.

The salsa ones from the early 90s were also fantastic, and the monterey jack ones were ambrosia.

Not strong enough for what, to wake the dead?
I can't stand the things, and wanted to go back to slap the cashier that said they were 'really good'. I might eat one again if I ever suffer massive scarring from an industrial licking accident and lose 90% of my sense of taste. Way, way too concentrated for my tastes.

Fun fact: Taco Bell will sell you loco shells for $.30 each. You can then take them home and fill them with good ingredients.

I feel sorry for people who live in places without real taquerias, who have to eat Taco Bell's crap. I tried one of the Dorito's shell ones out of morbid curiosity when they first came out, and it was worse than I expected.

Do they sell the shells in stores? I haven't looked but that would be awesome. You can make a way better taco then they do at home. But I've always just  used the regular bland shells.

The best store-bought shells I've ever bought were Trader Joe's house brand.

I will say that we had tacos the other night and I made shells from fresh tortillas, but store bought shells do work in a pinch from time to time.
