(Talking Points Memo)   "I'm calling pooh-pooh on King caucusing with GOP" I had a lad who pooh-pooh'd a king once. The king ignored the pooh-pooh, he pooh-pooh'd it. Fatal error. Turns out that lad had been pooh-poohing the party. Morale totally destroyed, by pooh-pooh   (talkingpointsmemo.com) divider line 33

Yes!

And as far as caucusing with the Republicans, why not? Being allied with the majority party makes sense as long as you can extract some concessions on your pet issues from it. If King would otherwise be stuck on the losing side of every debate and in dire situations Democrats still have both the filibuster and the veto-pen, what good is he doing his constituents. Granted, that should be a general reason for bipartisanship anyway, but we've seen that logic doesn't work with a party ready to gut anyone willing to stray from the party line when the next primary rolls around.

Why not? The policy preferences that contributed to his election are far more in line with the Democrats than the GOP, so if he wanted to switch he'd basically be repudiating everything he's ever stood for.

Blackadder Season 4. It's on Netflix. Do nothing else today until you watch the full Season.

If you are currently at work, get out of work by putting your underwear on your head, stick 2 pencils in your nose, and only say 'wibble'

so why make a big deal about the headline and not understanding the reference if you're not going to bother to try and understand the reference?

That, and switching back and forth based on who's in the majority is an excellent way to throw any influence you might have had in the toilet. Power in Congress isn't just about votes. Most of the power you get comes in the committee process. Want to see what it takes to get yourself completely tossed off of all committees? Abandon the Democrats, go to the Republicans. Since you have a somewhat liberal voting record, they'll put you in places they don't care about too much. Being with the majority will get you a little power in the short term, but not much, since in the markup process, things aren't usually all that partisan. Now, the Republicans lose the majority in 2016- they will be losing seats almost regardless of the national environment, don't worry- the map is very much against them. So then what? Now you're in the minority again. So you switch back to the majority, but then they won't like you quite as much, so you'll be stuck with lousy committee assignments, they'll reset your seniority, and nobody will trust you.

No politician is that stupid, and King generally strikes me as a pretty savvy guy. It's not gonna happen.

I'm shocked how few people got the headline. It's not obscure at all.

And unlike quite a lot of British Telly, Blackadder was farking funny. My favorite was 2nd season, my husband's was 3rd. 4th is a bit less so but absolutely worth watching.

To extend the recommendations (do watch it!):
1st season: Doesn't exist. No, it doesn't. Shut up.
2nd season: Goofy, absurd.
3rd season: Snappy, cynical, polished.
4th season: Snappy, cynical, darker, slightly less polished.

I posted one image (a GIS of "wtf am I reading" just happened to have a Pooh version, which was nice) because the headline made absolutely no sense to me, especially since the article didn't even use "pooh pooh". Someone replied that it's a reference from season 4 of a 1980s British television show (because that's just common knowledge) and said I should drop everything and watch it. I declined his offer, because watching an entire season of a show so I can come back and say, "Oh, I get it" seems like way too much work for a beautiful Friday. I don't think what I did constitutes "making a big deal" at all.

I apologize for lacking the cultural knowledge apparently everyone else has, and for being confused by such a non-sequitur.
