Revolution Calling!

2014-04-11 09:25:16 AM
Oh Jeebus, this guy is an asshole. He's been using federally owned land for years without paying the fees, and now he wants to claim he's being oppressed? Grow up and pay your bills, jackass.

2014-04-11 09:25:37 AM
I don't remember Kelly Bundy having four tits....

2014-04-11 09:25:47 AM
Look.  I'm probably squarely the target audience for this, and even I don't want to see this.

2014-04-11 09:26:37 AM
Thanks for the false hope, Subby. You should feel bad about yourself for teasing Married with Children.

2014-04-11 09:26:41 AM
Its not like the Feds just up and declared the area to be Federal land.  This asshat deserved the tasings.

He sounds very bootstrapy.

While this family may be nuts, I'm not keen on this made up by the Feds "First Amendment Zone" thing. Last time I checked the whole country was a First Amendment Zone.

Hey look, Total Fark.

2014-04-11 09:27:48 AM
If you're a rancher this is not the fight you want to get involved in.

Come to an agreement, sure.

But that jackhole owes a million in back fees and is still pushing like he has a deed to the land.

Also, they kicked a dog....and that's just uncool and bad PR.

QFT. You can't release your 500 animals on federal land and then get pissed when they want their grazing fees.

You used the public good. Now pay the usage fee. Asshole.

2014-04-11 09:30:11 AM
WTF?  I mean really?  You can't use someone elses land for years then get pissy when they tell you to stop doing it and then take your cows when you don't stop doing it.

That's like if  your neighbor decided to use your back lawn as their kid's playground.  They might not say something right away but there will be a point when they say enough is enough keep your stuff on your own property.

I've been following this and actually the guy's family has been grazing cattle on that land before the BLM was ever invented.  They should have grandfathered him in.

Walker: While this family may be nuts, I'm not keen on this made up by the Feds "First Amendment Zone" thing. Last time I checked the whole country was a First Amendment Zone.

I've always had an issue with that as well, but recently it has occurred to me that it is really just a very bad name for a legal and reasonable concept.

The point of a "First Amendment Zone" or "Free Speech Zone" is not to limit in the zone, it is to protect the peace *outside* of the zone. We are guaranteed the right to peaceable assembly and government has the duty to prevent *non*-peaceable assembly. In cases where there is reason to expect that letting folks gather in a certain area would lead to violence, I see no problem in creating "safe zones" where folks can protest away without creating a tinderbox waiting to explode.

However, they need to find a better name, because it has nothing to do with speech other than making a safe place for people to exercise that right.

"Peaceable Assembly Zone" isn't all that catchy, although it is the name of my NIN cover band.

I've been most everywhere in America. I can say without hesitation bootstrappy ranchers are the worst human beings I've come across in our country.

Now all these delusional sh*tbags hate the BLM? Funny, because when the Dubya administration started passing out BLM land to the energy companies, none of them had a problem with the BLM.

Not to mention he's likely undercutting prices for all the cattlemen who pay their fees, or maintain their own land.  It's not just theft of government land usage, it's detrimental to his competitors.

It's not really an imminent domain issue, is it? He never owned it, he's just been using it. And he's had 30 years to find an alternative to using it for free.

No, they haven't. The federal government owned everything after the states gave up thier western claims. That wasn't already privately owned. Free land never existed nor squatter's rights. The Homestead Act not included. So unless he has a title that dates back to Spanish land claims the federal government was there first.

Predates or not, the land is set aside for a reason. Not only is it public land with grazing fees attached, but it is also protected because of local endangered species. Which are likely endangered because this asshole's family keeps trampling them.

The guy is an asshole. Seriously. There is nothing good about this person.

The idea was that you either acknowledge the existence of matters or you will become a victim of them.  He has had 30 years to figure it out.  A high profile fiasco like this makes him a target to be made an example of.  It will end badly for him.

Mr. Bundy is trying a classic gambit: he is hoping that the government will summon him to a court that displays a flag with a gold fringe, which will result in any and all charges against him being null and void due to the admiralty court's lack of jurisdiction.

A welfare queen driving a big truck and taking taxpayer owned lands for his own personal profit.

Teabaggers love this sort of clown.

Spring is a great time for a stand-off.  The weather is just right, everyone wants to be outdoors and it gives all the sharpshooters the opportunity to knock the rust off when they put a slug through a ranchers shoulder as he tries to reload his shotgun.

No he's not. He has a 500 head and owns 160 acres. He's entirely depended on the BLM land for grazing. If I was a cattlemen in Nevada I would be pissed. He's feeding cattle for free. With record cattle prices he's doing good.

Coming from a family with plenty of ranchers and farmers, I am going to have to agree they are the most hypocritical self-center assholes on the planet. They complain non-stop about the federal government and taxes as they lap up crop insurance, direct agricultural subsidies, agricultural tax exemptions, disaster (such as drought) relief money, subsidized telephone service, subsidized roads, subsidized medical care, subsidized postal service, subsidized schools, subsidized grazing on federal land, subsidized irrigation water, etc.

It is my fondest dream that the government stop all agricultural/rural subsidies of all types and welcome these assholes to the real world.

If you saw how much taxes this man has payed in the last 30 years it would make a whore blush. They get all kinds of tax breaks, both federal and state. Corporations have nothing on these Old West Welfare Queens when it comes to dodging taxes.

They also get reimbursed by, get this, the Federal government for any killed livestock. Yeah, a wolf or a bear or maybe one of them liberal elites definitely killed these 200 cows. This animal-on-animal violence tends to happen when market value drops below what the Feds are reimbursing.

Even if that is true, do those people  really think that if they get a bunch of people with guns together and manage to run off the BLM officials that it will be the end of things?  Like the federal government would just sit back and say "Well gee, I guess we lost this one.  I mean, they have a bunch of motorcycles and guns, and we just have tanks and aircraft and missiles that can hit a target from miles away.  We're clearly in over our heads."
