Diocletian's Last Cabbage:  IMHO, sounds like, somehow, someone is trying to send a message to you.  I think the message is: life goes on.  Don't be afraid to keep living it in happiness.

exvaxman: sherpa18 I know it doesn't help much, but I used to have a rescue Turkish Abby. She shed like crazy and her fine hair got into even sealed electronic displays. I used to cry when coming across the hairs, now 15+ years later I still find some but they now bring a smile to me remembering an awesome cat.

Thanks guise. While it's getting a bit better (I just now managed to go finish picking up all the white boy's toys that were still strewn all over the living room) I have a bit of advice...  NEVER EVER EVER open a large box of photographs when you are trying to pack stuff. I just realized that I ended up staying up all freaking night looking at pics and getting more and more depressed. Then again, when I finally get settled and have some spare time, you people are in deep trouble - I have found so many pics of all my cats, and some really awesome snaps of the one and only Dragon that I need to get scanned....

Then again, I could just imagine what the white one would have to say about all this   ....

sherpa18: Spinnyr: Question for the 'experienced'......
At the end of this month, my four Mistresses will be moving with me to a place 6 hours away. While I was at Sainted Vet (for the white Queen, Luscious), I asked for...and got...a 'sedative' for the long car trip. It's Acepromzine. They cut each of the 10 pills into quarters. The tech said to 'practice' ... ô¿ô to find the right dosage. Hmmm. She said that the reaction is different in each critter - kinda like some people get buzzed on one drink and some people can drink more with no 'effect'... Apparently, it doesn't go by weight. Here's my ????...
Is it possible to dissolve the 1/4's and administer with an eye dropper? I'm planning to start each of them with 1/4.

Yes. I recommend crushing the pill first (wrap it in piece of paper towel and use a pair of pliers/sledge hammer/brick etc.) ... then dissolve in just a touch of hot tap water and administer as needed. Tuna water works great for this type of short term medication (whether you use an eye dropper or just let them lick it up). NOTE: I got the same sedative from my vet when I moved the white boy to my current place - and yeah, practice would have been in order (IMHE, these pills seem to take quite a bit of time to work - it never seemed to help the white one during the actual move, but then again, he never got up for the next 48 hours except to eat, drink and poop). Good luck.[i415.photobucket.com image 450x462]

Caution...check to see if medicine is time release. Crushing them maybe be problematic if that's the case.

Been kind of busy helping ride herd on the increased TF population, but it was a blast.

Thank you!

I imagine there was all kinds of mayhem and destruction in the past 24 hours..
You should have seen the mess of posts that disappeared in here just a little earlier!
It was pretty traumatic! ;-)

Must have missed all that.. saw one reference to a troll, but slept rather late this am...

I know that picture thing, mostly because I have never been big on pictures. Other people in my family take them, so when I see a box of pictures I *must* look through them so I can try and figure out whose they are and how they got anywhere near me.

Except the critter pics. Those are all mine. :-D

I've always thought those were just too adorable. I've always been a big fan of "pocket pets" except when it comes to the short lifespan they seem to have. :-/ I had a hamster when I was a little girl and when Cookie died - oh, holy fark. I was not allowed another animal companion for a long time.

I had something similar, but I think my sister took it. It disappeared right off the refrigerator, anyway. She decided to collect refrigerator magnets for reasons I don't understand and it was right after that my magnetic words vanished. I don't go to her other house, so I really don't know if she snagged 'em for herself or tossed 'em because that's the kind of person she is.

Baby sugar gliders! OMGs! So cute!

Need help / advice / commiseration...

Mollie, the most recent addition to my clowder, is a beautiful little girl with a very bad habit...  she pulls her lovely, soft fur out by the mouthful, leaving very not beautiful, weeping wounds....  I have her covered in a 'jacket' of sorts (sweatshirt sleeve with holes cut for legs - it ain't worthy of the runway, but it works - at least until she licks thru it.  (Yes - her obsession / compulsion is so strong she manages to lick thru a sweatshirt!)

scontent-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net

(Apologies for the over-sized pics but, my eyesight sux, and I am rather disinclined to figure out how to make 'em smaller...)

She is absolutely lovable, and even gives (real, arms around the neck type) hugs!   I ***know*** her issue is anxiety.  I just don't have the funds to diagnostically confirm this and then pay for treatment.  I may have a vet that will accept my diagnosis of OCD / anxiety.  Any suggestions for alternative treatments are greatly appreciated!  She, along with the rest of my clowder, (though, to their credit, they allow her to eat first) eat homemade gooshy food, supplemented with dry, urinary health formula (Theo has chronic UTI and eye issues, poor bastard baby-cat).  I put 'jackets' on her (made of sleeves of sweatshirts), which I spray with a pheromone-calming spray .  I try to supplement with Laxatone for the inevitable hairballs (she hates it, Fozzie loves it, and all the kitties let him groom them) and Rescue Remedy (again, she hates, Fozz loves).  Any suggestions (low cost...) to help the poor girl are heartily welcomed!

spinach gunk: Went for a bird-watching walk today.  At the top of the hill, it suddenly felt like I was the one being watched.  Turned around, and what did I see in a yard across the street?

Best bird photo of the day: Northern Flicker on a telephone wire, trying to decide whether to release a bomb on me or just fly away.

The rest of the day consisted of nothing but stoopid blurry birds running and flying away!
Oh well.  Was a nice walk regardless.  I love Spring sooo much.  :)

So that is what those birds are called! The whole front and backyard was full of them yesterday and they were entertaining to watch to say the least (especially when two of them went for a chirping match and they were bouncing up and down like crazy lol).

When I get home from work I'll have to put up pics of my lovely babies. I think this will be the first caturday I can finally participate in yay!

My brother used to give their OCD dog Rescue Remedy. You might find it at a conventional drugstore but will definitely get it at a natural foods store.

tigerose: Why?

Why do we do this.
Open the heart,
Cry.
Whoop with laughter.

Share the every day
nonsense,

Ask questions,
Receive answers.
Seek solace.

Be over-whelmed with
Understanding.

Why ask for help?

We are proud to be owned
By a furry creature.

When in need of funds,
Do not wish to be
Seen as poor.

Yet hope,
For the Power of Caturday.

We are happy to oblige.
We understand,
This is your baby.

We are Caturday
We care,
We share.
We help.

We listen.
Advise.

Tell it like it is.
Spay/neuter/ vaccinate.

For the love,
Of all those who,

Have crossed the
Rainbow Bridge.

Secure in the knowledge,
That we shall meet.
Again.

Many years ago I had a cat with an anxiety problem and the vet told me to try valerian. You can either grow it, cats love it like catnip, or get tablets / drops from a homeopath. I got the tablets from a homeopathic pharmacy and they worked a treat. Poor boy went from nervous wreck to zen master. If it works for your cat it's a cheap fix.

My neighbor has an un-fixed cat that has been in heat for the last week, so lots of cat-crying at all hours.
Not the first time and everytime this happens, he's not here - the cat has been left alone for about a week now and those of us in the building are stuck with the situation.

It's not the least bit amusing and also I think is cruelty to animals.

What can I do? Call the SPCA? Call the cops?
