Real Women Drink Akvavit: Good morning, Caturday folk! I hate to start the day out this way, but for those who were following Moo Kitty Sissy Doodles the best feral Lawn Warrior to ever sanctify my hand with her claws, she has sadly charged the Rainbow Bridge. Her coronavirus test came back positive, she was sliding very quickly and exhibiting neurological symptoms, so Wednesday was spent getting lots of love, being told stories and lots of chicken baby food before we helped her across just before 7 pm.

We gave it our best shot, but with acute FIP, there's really nothing you can do. Many cats survive coronavirus, but there are always those unlucky few whose illness take the course Moo's did, and in those cases it is 100% fatal. My mom and I are both devastated - I was SO CLOSE to having her socialized enough to get to the vet for Felv/FIV tests. shots, etc and then just having a ticked off cat in my house for a while! - and my mom is frantic about the other cats that roam the neighborhood, but I'm going to focus on the positive. I'm remembering the happiest day of Moo's life and it wasn't spent being hand fed baby food on the bed I made for her on my bathroom floor. That was terrible, though she was purring. The happiest day of her life was in the back yard, killing invisible fairy dragons. There must have been a whole swarm of them, because she was busy at that for a while. She won, of course. :-)

So, just like every other death I've been through, let's not be sad (though I am) and dwell on loss, let's celebrate the good things we do have and just post pictures of cats.

Thanks everyone for your help and support. I really can't thank you all enough.

/I might be a bit scarce, but I'll be around

Somehow, somewhere, I brave Feral Lawn Warrior knows what you did for her and lervs you for it.  And that lerv will not be wasted now or into the future!

Oh, hai everbuddy! I had to take a short break from trying to pack up my entire life, since I just got blindsided by a couple of things - which of course, I need to share with the only people who could possibly understand how miserable I feel right now...

Let me preface this by explaining that I have a thing for small wooden decorative boxes - I have no idea where I got this one, or what it originally contained - but when I opened it, it was like an arrow to my heart.[ image 640x480]
Yes, I DID used  to keep the white boy's whiskers when he lost them (don't ask me why, I don't know) and that is the fang he lost a couple of years ago ....  what ripped my heart out was the "Reflections" thing on the lid of the box, considering what it contained.

Then I found this: (yes kids, that IS a Polaroid pic, feel free to vacate my lawn at any time) and it was right next to this bookmark...[ image 480x640]
I was gonna post one more pic here that I had in mind, but I have too much to do to go looking for it, so I will call on Caturday (well, one of you at least, you know who you are) to do it for me.

IMHO, sounds like, somehow, someone is trying to send a message to you.  I think the message is: life goes on.  Don't be afraid to keep living it in happiness.

I know it doesn't help much, but I used to have a rescue Turkish Abby. She shed like crazy and her fine hair got into even sealed electronic displays. I used to cry when coming across the hairs, now 15+ years later I still find some but they now bring a smile to me remembering an awesome cat.

They slow dance?

I saw the pic, and all I could think of was "The Tennessee Waltz".  Now I have that tune eating and clawing its way through my earbones and into what little but of brain I haz.

Question for the 'experienced'......

At the end of this month, my four Mistresses will be moving with me to a place 6 hours away. While I was at Sainted Vet (for the white Queen, Luscious), I asked for...and got...a 'sedative' for the long car trip. It's Acepromzine. They cut each of the 10 pills into quarters. The tech said to 'practice' ... ô¿ô to find the right dosage. Hmmm. She said that the reaction is different in each critter - kinda like some people get buzzed on one drink and some people can drink more with no 'effect'... Apparently, it doesn't go by weight. Here's my ????...
Is it possible to dissolve the 1/4's and administer with an eye dropper? I'm planning to start each of them with 1/4.

Begin CSB, WoT...

Caught the little bugger that was tearing into my bread loaves while I was out!

Haz a mpuse problem.  Was considering getting D-con bait, or a sticky trap.  Short of cash, so I was contemplating a little dumpster-diving and getting some scrap parts to construct my own moosetrap in my cave here in upstate nowhere.  Happened through dollar store, saw a 4-pack of really cheap, chincy looking mousetraps.  The old-fashioned kind with the wood base and spring snapper.  Were only a buck each, so I bouht them wioth pocket change and took 'em home.

I baited them with a wad of the same bread the mouse likes to eat.  Poured myself a bunch of margaritas, passed out on the couch, and got up about 1 AM-ish to get something for the munchies.

There, on the kitchen counter, was the trap with a very dead mouse in it.  Neck nearly cut clean through from the trap.

I did it very quiet happy dancec (the neighbors downstairs were all sleeping)  and proceeded to get a cold slice of pizza and a bunch of vodka cokes.  Went in the living room, watched Dish Nation and PBS Inner Fish reruns until I passwed out again.  Good times, good times  :-{)

In my humble opinion, as a somewhat trained professional, you can dissolve the pills in a tiny bit of water. You can also get tuna juice and just have them lick that. The bottle will say "may crush" or not. If it can be crushed, it can be administered any way to get it in to the floofies.
