This is me and Hector every morning with my bowl of oatmeal:

i283.photobucket.com

This morning I tried something different. I added a scoop of vanilla protein powder to the oatmeal and Hector licked the empty bowl like usual. Five minutes later he horked up a big pile of partially digested food. I guess it was too rich for him.

Real Women Drink Akvavit: Good morning, Caturday folk! I hate to start the day out this way, but for those who were following Moo Kitty Sissy Doodles the best feral Lawn Warrior to ever sanctify my hand with her claws, she has sadly charged the Rainbow Bridge. Her coronavirus test came back positive, she was sliding very quickly and exhibiting neurological symptoms, so Wednesday was spent getting lots of love, being told stories and lots of chicken baby food before we helped her across just before 7 pm.

We gave it our best shot, but with acute FIP, there's really nothing you can do. Many cats survive coronavirus, but there are always those unlucky few whose illness take the course Moo's did, and in those cases it is 100% fatal. My mom and I are both devastated - I was SO CLOSE to having her socialized enough to get to the vet for Felv/FIV tests. shots, etc and then just having a ticked off cat in my house for a while! - and my mom is frantic about the other cats that roam the neighborhood, but I'm going to focus on the positive. I'm remembering the happiest day of Moo's life and it wasn't spent being hand fed baby food on the bed I made for her on my bathroom floor. That was terrible, though she was purring. The happiest day of her life was in the back yard, killing invisible fairy dragons. There must have been a whole swarm of them, because she was busy at that for a while. She won, of course. :-)

So, just like every other death I've been through, let's not be sad (though I am) and dwell on loss, let's celebrate the good things we do have and just post pictures of cats.

Thanks everyone for your help and support. I really can't thank you all enough.

/I might be a bit scarce, but I'll be around

Somewhere..an apartment or two past..I have sealed cuttings of all my past kitteys hair..guarded and stored them judiciously..then, life got in the way and a forced, sudden move lost them all and so much more..  So happy for you that you found this..  Still thinking of you and hoping for all the best..

There may be something good that comes from this. I am quietly grieving and watching my mother grow increasingly concerned about the preggers either stray or "I have highly negligent humans who don't bother to feed me, let alone spay me" kitty in our yard. I call her "The Spaz". Moo kept The Spaz (and Ooma and Yeti and Squeek and Honkey Cat all the other cats that pop in on a regular basis) in line. They were seen, but usually only from afar or if Moo was resting after a hard bout of wholesale slaughter of things only she could see. Now The Spaz is not leaving her station by our door making us believe she truly does not have a home. Which of course is upsetting my mom because mom thinks she's a very cute cat (she is - she looks like mini Gogh!). Who is maybe homeless. Who my mom keeps saying "I think she's pregnant" (Oh, yeah. Pretty sure she is with that belly and her nipples starting to stick out - I took a claw to the hand to find that out) Mom's brow is furrowed with worry.

My mom might just grab that cat. I don't know. She's feeling very guilt ridden that she just didn't tell me to go catch Moo and we'd all deal with it months ago AND she doesn't want anything to happen to the cats that are out there, either. The Spaz is obviously starved for attention, but wary. She will hit you with her claws out and she's unbelievably fast. She screams constantly for kibble/attention but tries to tear you a new one after a few skritches. She is not leaving the back yard at all anymore and she and Gogh give each other head boops through the sliding glass door. (Gogh really likes other cats - he's a buddy cat)

I told my mom "If you want to make a plan for that cat, I'll help you and just grab the cat, but you need a plan in place first". That's as far as I feel like taking it. I just can't cope with much of anything right now. Besides, if my mom is the one that says "will you go get that cat for me?" then SHE is the one with all the worry and stress of tests (theoretically - we know I'd stress, too). I get to post pics of mewbies when they are born and ask everyone if they want a kitten. I can be the cool Cat Aunt who isn't a cat.

On one hand, I don't want another cat right now. We have Gogh. At the same time, I kinda hope she tells me to go get the cat for her. I'm incredibly conflicted. The cat is unpredictable and I think that's all that's stopping her right now. Especially since she keeps asking if I think The Spaz will calm down if she comes inside. :-/

I'll have to charge my camera and see if I can't get a pic of the little trollop today or tomorrow. When we first saw her coming around we thought maybe Gogh was outside then it was like - "hey, who the name of Lady Hel shrunk my cat?" They do look quite a bit alike in coloring and floof.

oh my stars! Look at those shameless beggars! Was the Mrs. Able to resist sharing?

She resisted today, but that's rare, the boys know who the soft touch is! I rarely have to deal with this, but my Wegman's Genoa Salame has a similar effect on them. The boys don't like spicy foods, they leave me alone if I'm getting into the pepperoni!

Begs to differ?

I prefer to look at it as an example of the great balance of nature.  Take my own life, for example...

Sure, all those industrial chemicals and that ionizing radiation I sucked in out at McClellan kinda sucked.  But it mutates the body just enough so that the virii and parasites I sucked in from Asia don't really have the same kind of effect on me as they do on prime, grade A tasty people.  And with the amount of liquor I consume, it balances out (in my mind) all the Bingham-tard Trash I so desperately want to shoot and kill every day.  ISN'T LIFE WONDERFUL!?!?  >:-{D

/not really

spinach gunk: I don't know how Buddy found this comfortable, but he slept like that for nearly half an hour.

Understandably had a good sneezing fit upon waking, lol.

He's had not a bad week, but yesterday and today have been all barf & sleep, barf & sleep.  Poor lil fella.  We're giving him super deluxe snuggles and lots of patient lovin'.  Hopefully he'll feel better soon.

Get well soon, lil' fella!

I may biatch, moan or complain about my life, and the other two-legged animals that infest it, but Caturday critters are a higher order and often deserve better than they get!

Hi all, I know that I have been a "Debbie downer" the last couple of weeks, but some really good news this week. The pregnant feral cat that last week stopped trying to "kill me" and sat in my lap has been spoken for. She has a fur ever home as soon as the kittens are old enough. The kittens have been spoken for as well (Yay! My teenager was severely hinting we needed two more cats). On the minus side, the adopter is acclimating her and I'm now in the way and not needed. But she has a secure future which is what counts.

I have sorta beaten the severe depression I was in last week. Not quite there yet.

The thing that broke the depression was our larger, incredibly unintelligent cat. I came back from helping out one of my wife's clients to hear Gideon screaming. I rushed inside to find out he had gone into a bathroom and the door shut behind him. I opened the door and this blurr ran to the litterbox. Then to the water dish. Then to my lap to meow for half an hour "explaining" the horrors of being trapped.
(Seriously, someone really abused him before we adopted him. If I knew who, they would no longer be alive). To only have it better as his "slave" came home from school where the whole thing had to be explained again on his lap, this time for over an hour with two water and one litterbox breaks. Even though it is still a little cold, I opened up a window for Gid to sit on and enjoy fresh air which helped his mood a lot. Sorta not happy with the kid but I understand. I came into the room later to see the open window, and an ELECTRIC BLANKET on high underneath the cats, my kid's doing. The cats were very happy curled up with their noses pressed to the screen getting fresh air.

tigerose: Good Meowning! Welcome to our liters as well. Have fun. Oh! Hey this means lots of cookies..ohboyohboy! :) and pictures of new kittehs. Awesome.

I'm in an ice cream mood today, will this do?
