(Boston Globe)   Sometimes, you just gotta park next to that hydrant to make it to the gym in 26 minutes. And, sometimes, karma happens   (bostonglobe.com) divider line 23

Just saw this story on the Boston news, where they interviewed the car owner's brother. The reason for parking in front of the hydrant:  he wanted to just quickly check on his friends in the area since there was a fire.

Farking brilliant.

GarbageDay: Of course it was a BMW. German-made vehicles scream "A farking prick drives this car."

/Including Volkswagen, but to a lesser degree

What's the difference between a BMW and a porcupine?

A porcupine has all the pricks on the outside.

You know, the only problem with this is that the hydrant is lower than the windows.  If it were higher, then you could also get water from the hydrant connection to run down into the car, destroy the interior, and really do it up right.

Another angle, looks like they beat the shiat out of the sidepanel attaching the hose.

But i can see why they needed to move the car back.

MacDonald said firefighters don't go out of their way to damage property as they were forced to do by the driver of the BMW.

Not that they dont enjoy it, but thats totally their right.

serial_crusher: Russ1642: I can't stand the people that think they're entitled to special rules because they got out of the way. Dove into a left turn lane to make way for the truck? That was nice of you. Guess what? When that left turn arrow comes up you have to fraking turn left now. You can't just sit there fraking up traffic for a couple cycles.

Alternatively, we all pulled onto the shoulder on the right like we're supposed to.  Now that the truck passed, some jerk has sped back into the road and is trying to pass everybody.  Just let everybody back on in the same order they were in before they pulled over.  Not difficult, special guy.

The ones who try to pass everyone after the rig goes by should be forced to go to the fire scene and have a hose run through their windows.

One of the most amazing things I ever saw was on I95 in Philly: fire truck splitting traffic to get to an accident (narrow shoulders, so they were going down the middle and everyone was moving left or right) with a line of cars behind it, also splitting traffic taking advantage of the hole the truck was making. I fully expected to see a cop writing tickets to a whole line of cars when I finally got to the scene, but nothing.

It was better the time I saw a PA state trooper walk right in front of a car using the shoulder to pass the stopped traffic and then loudly chew out the driver for being an ass.

I've never had to do this, but here's a similar situation that I had.

We had a kitchen fire at the local grocery store, and had a few cars parked in the fire lane with their hazards on.  "I'll move if there's ever something!" is the usual thing we hear from that.  We got on scene, lay down supply line, and block in three vehicles.  No window breaking or anything, but they weren't going anywhere for an hour or two.  Then, one of the owners comes up and asks, "Hey, can you move that truck?  I'm running late."  I thought about turning the deck gun on him.

We've gotten that question when blocking in vehicles with the ambulance, too.  I'm usually pretty patient with them and will move because they were parked legally, but sometimes things require more attention (like when the guy asked me to move while I was doing CPR on someone.

Oh, and don't even get me started on people not pulling to the right for our rigs.

I bet the hose was damaged by feeding it through the car windows. They really need to bill the BMW owner for a new hose.

Why can't they publish the name of the BMW owner?

Smashing the windows is so unnecessary.....when they have those hydraulic jaws that can pry the doors open.
