You know, I was kind of conflicted on the Colbert replacing Letterman thing, until now.  If Lard Ass hates it, I am all for it.

I remember Rush's TV show. Barely. It was pretty unwatchable, as I recall.

Do they honestly not know that Her Excellency The Rev. Sir Doctor Stephen Tyrone Mos Def Colbert, D.F.A., Heavyweight Champion of the World✱✱ featuring Flo Rida La Premiere Dame De France is a a character?

Granted, he's a caricature of people like Limbaugh and O'Reilly, so maybe that's the problem...

He's a papist.
And he actually appears to believe in some of the things that Jesus guy preached.

Limbaugh said this is a sign that the networks have just decided to be blatantly against traditional America in their programming, explaining, "No longer is comedy going to be a covert assault on traditional American values, conservatives--now it's just going to be wide out in the open. What this hire means is a redefinition of what is funny and a redefinition of what is comedy."

Putting aside the fact that Limbaugh is a corpulent farkhead who has to be angry and outraged at every farking thing because that's what his brainless following expects....*deep breath*...

Why is he assuming Stephen will keep up the Colbert Report persona?  Not everyone's a one trick pony like you, Rush.

Limbaugh's definition of american values is torture, denying the poor access to healthcare, prosperity gospel nonsense and bombing the fark out of brown people while telling everyone that the greatest political leader in the world is a Russian dictactor so then yes, that is going to be a pretty direct assault on those values.

No doubt. Letterman didn't dig into politics a lot, but when he did, you could tell exactly what he thought of Limbaugh and his kind.

Also, hasn't this been Rush's thing since...I dunno, since Bill Clinton was just an Arkansan governor who couldn't win the '84 Democratic primary? That "well, before, they were content to keep it to the LIBERAL media and BIG HOLLYWOOD, but now - NOW, they've brought the fight INTO YOUR LIVING ROOM" schtick is Rush's only trick.

Or was that your point?

Will Colbert have to color within the lines of the show format or will he be able to make the show a bit less concocted?

I watch Fallon now a bit, and it's weird that his seat is elevated "above" the guests and it seems stuffy listening to scripted questions and predictable laughter at guests' stories.
