Does this happen in the not too distant future?

Crappy writer:

"MST3K was set in a space station prison where mad scientists trapped Hodgson with a couple of robots and repeatedly made him watch crappy movies in a sort of psycho-masochistic experiment. "

It wasn't a "space station", it was a space ship.  They didn't trap Joel with the robots...  Joel made the robots.

" Last week, on its 25th anniversary, reruns of  MST3K aired on National Geographic for the first time since it's cancellation. "

It wasn't a re-run... it was RiffTrax doing do material on NatGeo shows.

Jeez yeah. The author was wrong about nearly everything.

We should really just relax, though.

And for more "feel old" context from me, in the scene, the guy (Alex, a violent thug), is being forced to watch violent films while being drugged, in an effort to alter his behavior.

The films were also set to Alex' favorite music (accidentally, the lead scientist was surprised)- his "beloved Ludwig Von"

Rifftrax is the only way my daughter and I are managing to get through the Twilight "Saga".

Twilight seems to be bad fan-fic of a better vampire story.

If you're barely hanging on with Twilight, there is no salvation for 50 Shades of Gray...bad fan-fic of a bad fan-fic with the vampires completely removed.

The guys at Rifftrax are just fine where they are now. We get Mike, Joel, Bill, and Kevin, without the buttholism of Jim Malon.

That's the only way I could watch them with my wife.  And now she's says that I ruined them for her... in a good/bad way of course.

Joel didn't finally do a Rifftrax, did he?

Yeah my bad. Was typing out some names of the post-MST3K actors (was gonna mention Cinematic Titanic as well) but forgot to remove Joel's name.

Jim Malon's still a douche though. Neither riffing company has him in their cast for a reason.

I think Mallon still technically owns the rights to MST3k stuff that includes the bots, the Mads, the SOL, etc.. The Rifftrax crew tried a new type of show called "The Film Crew" around 2005, but conflict with Mallon kept it from going forward. So Mike started Rifftrax.

Cinematic Titanic has unfortunately ended.

I would absolutely love to have a Joel & Mike Rifftrax! Even if it's just a short.

If a classic like "Clockwork Orange" makes you just "feel old", then you should GTFO the planet. The late 60's wasn't ancient the Neolithic Era.

Oddly enough, not many of us were born back then to get that kind of perspective.

The original comment, about "the picture with the guys eyes", made it sound like he didn't know what the picture was from, which makes it sound like he's very young and never seen the movie. That's what made me feel old. Also, the movie was released in 1972...  :)

Yes, but the universe DID actually exist prior to 1987.
