I'm trying to think if that's better than using yearbook photos.

I dont need to be drunk to want to hit that. Nor do I need to be in a stupor.

I'd knick-knack-paddy-whack, give that b*tch my bone!

Wait, I'm confused:

FTFAMendoza, 21, was taken into custody Monday by the Florida Highway Patrol

And again: The Catronio and Ferrante families are suing Tijuana Taxi alleging that "Throughout the evening of November 16, 2013 and the early morning hours of November 17, 2013, Tijuana Taxi Co., willfully sold or furnished alcoholic beverages to Mendoza, a minor not of the lawful drinking age."

So Florida has its own tag and drinking age now?

Looks like its taken a while to arrest her because they couldn't take her out of the hospital.  2 broken legs and a brain injury.  Wish she'd had the decency to wreck and just kill her own stupid ass.

She likely turned 21 after the accident, but before the court appearance. The wreck was back in November.

A chronic drunk driver went the wrong way down an interstate and hit a friend of mine last summer when he was attending a destination wedding there. My friend will never regain full use of two of his limbs and is still going through surgeries due to the accident. The girl who hit him is facing a substantial prison sentence once she gets out of the hospital herself.

It has ruined the lives of everyone involved. He's farked. She's farked. His family is going broke trying to help him recover while he isn't working (the cost of his medical bills exceeds what the state of Florida requires her insurance company to pay out). Her family is going broke with her medical bills and legal fees.

Don't drive drunk down the interstate the wrong way, kids.

/sad story, bro

I new a kid who was killed by a wrong way drunk driver who hit him head on going about 80 miles an hour on the interstate. The drunk had a bal of .30 or so. He had also been deported once and for some reason was back in this country illegally. I guess if there was any justice the drunk guy also died. Morbid I know but no sympathy for him really.

We should have sensors on the highways and if they detect you're going the wrong way on an interstate they blow up your car with missiles.

Not to turn this into a health care flame-war, but the fact that a family is financially crippled because of a car accident is sad. Around here I'd never even see a bill for that unless I asked for perks like private room, TV, etc. (and even then it would be on the order of tens or hundreds of dollars (depending on length of stay)).

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my client, who was gravely injured in this crash that was not in anyway her fault, was drinking cokes and, unknown to her, the cokes were being spiked with rum. As a 20 year old that doesn't drink she was unaware that she was slowly becoming intoxicated. She was so concerned about her boyfriend's intoxication level she Tweeted that he was too drunk to care. And remember, she was only 20, so even if she was ordering drinks with alcohol in them, she should have not been served, so the crash was clearly not her fault."

It would have made a lot more sense to say something like, "Mendoza, who was 20 at the time of the incident..."  But it's not like we get good quality writing from journalists these days.

Yeah, but then we have to deal with cars becoming self-aware and going on murderous rampages. No thanks.

I've always wondered why the off ramps to interstates don't have one-way spike strips like the ones at a car rental lot. Go down the off ramp headed the wrong way, you get 4 flats and can't go any farther.

Yes. Drunk idiots will be spending real money on a new car.

Investigators said Mendoza had a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit after the accident, as well as marijuana in her blood.

And what else? I know I'm from Wisconsin but twice the legal limit isn't exactly "raging drunk."  Is the legal limit higher than .08 in Florida?

Death would be too good for this waste of flesh.  Let her suffer the gut-wrenching, sleep-stealing, appetite-killing existence of a guilty criminal, wasting away in a cold, damp cell.

Or, just put her in rehab and cut her loose in a couple months.

I don't care anymore.

I think it'll become a mandatory feature at some point. I read the other day that all new cars produced now have to have a camera feature for when you back up and don't run over grandma at the supermarket.

Also, there is no caste system for drunk driving. You don't have to be poor to drive drunk.

Agreed.

A better system would simply have everyone who is arrested be automatically convicted and sent to jail.

So you're saying if she got onto a mattress that was converted into a car she would have carte blanche to kill as many people as she wants?
