slayer199: If you're an enterprise using WSUS you have bigger issues.  WSUS is NOT an Enterprise inventory/patch management system.  If you're a SMB, it's fine...

What do you recommend? I currently only have about 100 machines on my network, but WSUS is kinda a POS. That being said... it works... for the most part.

Got any other recommendations for my size of network that won't cost me an arm and a leg?

Invest in some kind of management platform (we use GFI Max).  They are relatively cheap, and make life so much easier.

noblewolf: MrSteve007: GoldSpider: After long denigrating Windiws 8, I'm actually starting to warm up to it now that I've tried using it once I figured out right-clicking on the "Windows" button on the Desktop.
Amazing. When people actually use the product, vs. reading what know-nothing Linux and mainframe neckbeards biatch about - they actually like it

Way to generalize skippy.  One person responds that after he figured out how to use it, he is warming up to it, and you go all ape shiat on how everyone needs to do this.  Like others have not...
The standard KDE layout is very similar to windows 7 and earlier.  So maybe you should pull your head out of your ass and stop sucking Gates wiener...

YEAH, MRSTEVE, GO F(CK YOURSELF!!!

Idiots on this website are getting worse.

This is like arguing over how to tie a shoe.

Well, as he pointed out, Goldspider used to be one of the main detractors (and vocal Fark Windows 8 haters). I find it amusing that people are now "coming around to Window 8" by mentioning well published features that have been baked into the OS for nearly 2-years now.

It's as if people are now actually using the product and basing their opinion on fact, versus just repeating other people's ignorance.

It's also curious how Linux only accounts for ~2% of the users out there, yet in Fark Windows threads, roughly 1/3rd of the comments are all "Windoze 8 sucks - use Mint, KDE, Xubuntu, Red Hat, etc"

As a dual booter I've tried to be objective and fair about Win8.  Personally, I think the GUI and Metro suck, but with Classic Shell (or other 3rd party start menu) it makes it like 7, only better and faster.  I'm also one who hates on Ubuntu, not for noobing Linux (which it needs, badly), but for crappy GUI choices like Microsoft.  For Linux noobs, Mint, or any other noob friendly distro in distrowatch.com's top 20 will work just fine.  For advanced/specialized users, you pick the distro that goes with what you're doing, whether it be servers, networks security, emulation station (mame, psx, etc), or a home server holding terabytes of porn.

The many different Linux distros are like Windows having different versions like Pro, Advanced Server, Enterprise, Ultimate, Home Rape, 2000.  You go with the one that your environment requires (usually Pro for Windows) and Linux is the same way, only there are many, many more choices that can make the decision daunting, which is why a lot of us recommend the distros you listed...well, maybe not Red Hat (Fedora) and KDE isn't a Linux distro...

One thing you need to remember -- people hate drastic changes.  For example, if 8.1 was released as 8, there wouldn't be nearly as much butthurt over the GUI change, but they didn't.

/Hated Windows 7 and prefers 8 with addons.
//Yep, ya'll read that right -- to me 8>7.
///Why is 8 afraid of 7?  Because 7 8 9....corny joke, I know.

Perhaps Fark is not a typical cross section of average computer users.

/Primary uses Mac, but also uses Windows.
