Wow.  Either they've gone completely "WATCH MEEEEEEEEEEE PLEEEEEEEEESE!", or they just don't care any more.

If they're going to do it, they better do it right.

Full length episodes, no 2-minutes edited out for syndication.

Original airings.  No re-do's/edits over something that generated controversy the first time they ran (I'm looking at you, MTV/Beavis & Butthead).

Bullshiat, Subby. Simpson has been pretty good this year.  Actually, it's been pretty good all along.  It's just been hip to say Simpson wasn't what it was like when you were in college.

I am not looking forward to the Walter Matthau voice for Homer in Seasons 1-2. Or black Smithers, for that matter.

/might save a wank for Princess Kashmir, though...

Yes, this should provide adequate sustenance for the Simpsons marathon.

I remember seeing the Christmas episode (their first as a series) and how much the characters had changed. But I warmed up to it.

this season is the worst it's been in a long time. It was pretty meh for a while, but now it's just a complete mess; the writers can't seem to fully commit to a plot for more than 10 minutes at a time and the constant callbacks to earlier, better episodes is just sad.

The local station that had the syndication rights keeps airing the newer episodes. As a result, I stopped watching. Hopefully FXX will air some of the more classic ones because my local station is worthless when it comes to watching the Simpsons.

I haven't watched it in a while but caught a newer episode recently. I don't know if it's just me, but it seemed the jokes were more forced than they were in the older episodes and didn't seem to flow as well.

I had to look that one up.  Well Holy shiat.  That pisses me right off.  The ridiculousness of the "fire" thing was what made that show funny, along with the whole Cornholio routine.  If it wasn't for those two completely absurd elements, B&B would not have been watchable.  And of all the companies to censor a product... MTfarkingV?  Really?  That's more douchebaggery than I would have expected from them.  When did they turn into my old man*?

*I am now my old man, but I still find the absurd hysterical.

Most of this season has been crap. The episodes are boring and the jokes are flat. The most recent episode was good but the two before that were terrible.  There is much more miss now than in the peak.  They also don't do the several overlapping story lines and jokes like in the early season.

The SImpsons has always had multiple storylines running at once, but they generally intertwine; now it feels like 2 plots that they couldn't flesh out for a full episode running concurrently but not really affecting one another. I've noticed the episodes with no B plot fare the best because more attention is given to the single plot, but in either case, it often feels like the writers have more or less forgotten the plot about midway through and the last act or two feels like a bunch of random gags they had laying around.

2014-04-09 09:42:45 PM
So, 552 episodes, each 22 minutes long. That comes out to over 200 hours. This...could be a long marathon.

I don't get FX with the eXtra chromosome, just the reg'lar one.  How is it, as a channel?

They could always play the show 24-7, and do it the way [adult swim] did with the ATHF movie the day it hit the theaters, realllly tiny in the corner, and no sound.

My top 5:

1. El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Homer
2. Homer's Enemy
3. They Saved Lisa's Brain
4. You Only Move Twice
5. The Treehouse of Horror episode with the alternate dimension toaster

Worst episode:

1. Homer Simpson in Kidney Trouble

Think I own seasons 1-12? somewhere around here on DVD, so I'm good. That being said, I haven't been a regular (or even occasional) watcher for at least 10 years now, so I might have to dip in from time to time in the latter half to see what I've missed.

Well, it gave me the chance to watch Sports Night all the way through from the beginning. So that was nice.

Other than that, it's so-so. The only reason it gets viewers is because Fox is propping it up by moving Sunny from FX to FXX.
