The local pet store chain quit carrying Royal Canin over changes to the formula. Apparently Mars ownership can be followed by a race to the bottom for ingredient quality.

It's basically a shiatty pet food company buying another shiatty pet food company.  They're both basically diabetic poison for pets, if not outright salmonella/melamine/etc poison.

We used to feed our cats Evo, but then they got bought by P&G.  And as expected, it got recalled.  And now it's being bought by Mars.  Expect more recalls in the future.

Guess what...your cat is still going to lick its own asshole, drink out of the toilet and kill various vermin and rodents given the chance.  The cat food ain't gonna kill it....

Actually it can, long-term, or even short-term if you count the melamine poisoning.  If you're wondering why cats get diabetes, it's because of shiatty food made of mostly corn meal when cats are obligate carnivores.

Actually Mars pet division has a better / more rigorous testing protocol for salmonella than most baby food manufacturers. As for melamine they pioneered the NIR detection method for it and do more ingredient testing than any other major pet food manufacturer. After seeing their testing and the testing protocols used by some human food manufacturers lets just say Fido is sitting pretty good.

What, you think this means pets will get human food?

I can think of a far more likely interpretation

Guess those people decided not to sue Jackie Mars after all.

I live in Topeka KS.

Topeka is home to two dog food factories. Hills pet nutrition and Del Monte.

Recently Mars opened a candy factory here.

If Mars also opens a dog food factory, Topeka may just become the dog food capital of North America.

Wow. What an achievement. Glad getting they found something to replace that pink slime factory.

With the replacement of lime with green apple, I completely agree. "Original Skittles" my ass.

I have a cat named Skittles.

/Don;t you judge me. I took it in, and that was his name. Doesn't answer to it anyway.
