I'm no computer geek by any means. I recently made my first effort at online gaming and was hounded from the midst of 133t speakers as a NOOB!!!!! when I couldn't conquer some simulated geographical area with my Gaia powers. Whatever, I just went back to my regulaar life.

I just read the page you posted, and because I am dumb as to these things, I have to ask: What the hell do people do with these computers? I mean, I undertand that they have a need to have the best, fastest, largest memoried computers out there, but...why? I mean, I get not wanting to have 286 which won't do anything, but...what the hell do these people (meaning the type in your posted link) do with their computers? It's just a tool to do something, and I don't know what the "something" is that everyone like the guys in your link seem to be doing.

I do all kinds of digital imaging (digital camera and a digital video recorder), and I use some editing software, and I play games every now and then and surf the net and maintain Quicken, but that's it. What the hell am I missing?

To boil it down to its essence, there's a scene in the movie Diner where Bunny and one of the other guys are at, like, a society event and everyone's talking about polo and hoity-toity stuff, and Bunny asks, "Do you ever get the feeling there's something going on that we don't know about"?

What am I missing? I'm totally serious.

All I know is,... the first time i read that i knew it couldn't be true. Then the "explanation" came out... There is such a thing as a dead Mac, gang, that could be the donor of the case... A guy I worked with sent a dual 2Ghz G5 into kernel panic one day, so I know its possible.

The extreme fundamentalist Mac and PC users make us all look bad. Sorta the way Michael Moore and Pat Robertson make their respective sides look oh so good...

Furrthermore- i use Macs and PCs, and my everyday personal computer is a 15" PowerBook G4. It does run faster, smoother, and more reliably than any of my PC's. But it isn't without quirks. And I accept those.

I also drive a Jetta. (it is heavily modded.) And I am most definitely not gay. If I was, my gf might get pissed at me.

In closing, its a hoax. It'll eventually hit snopes. Nothing to see here, move along.

I can't think of a good use for a Mac so I don't own one.
