This is just farking surreal.
He was inducted Saturday into the HOF, and we were giving him the business in the fWc RAW thread last night.

Ooft.

Dammit, this is turning into an awful week for me.  First John Pinette, now this....

I'm afraid to see who is going to complete the trifecta for me....

I wanted another wrestling thread, but not like this. Goddammit. Rest in peace, Ultimate Warrior. :(

So at the viewing will everyone walk past the casket and whomp his body with a folding chair?

Okay I'm confused, I thought the Ultimate Warrior died like 20 years ago from steroid complications (way back in the day when I followed wrestling).  Or is this a NEW Ultimate Warrior?  If the latter, maybe they should retire the "ultimate warrior" moniker because it may be cursed.

Wow, this is out of the blue.  He looked fine at the HOF ceremony and at Wrestlemania.  I wonder what happened?

Crazy.

Mickey Rooney died recently too

God I hope this isn't another OD or suicide.

He was looking so well during WM weekend.

One of the best memories I have as a kid was seeing the Ultimate Warrior fight The Undertaker in a casket match.  I was a huge Warrior mark, like most kids my age were back in the day, so I was extremely excited to see this.  At the very end, Taker hit Warrior with a Tombstone and rolled him into the casket.  Just as he was about to close the lid, a tasseled arm raises up to stop him, and I completely lost my shiat.  I'll never forget that moment...

farkin crazy, man. While I have snarked about him, he was a pretty big part of my TV watching life growing up. RIP, Ultimate Warrior.

I wonder what the Iron Sheik will twit about his death?

2014-04-09 12:22:10 AM
I was too young to remember watching Warrior wrestle. The last time he was on Raw, I was 6 years old and hadn't begun watching wrestling. Looking back though, I can see the appeal he had, as well as his impact on the industry.

I'm thinking it's not.  Warrior was always a little bit nuts, and there was something a little weird about how his music got played Monday night and how he addressed the crowd....

Will go back and watch his RAW speech again, but thinking back to it...somehow I sense that he knew.

"Every heart stops beating, every man takes his last breath."

That was from Raw last night.  Either it was a suicide, or he was terminally ill and knew his time was running out.

Yes I know, although that meant more to my wife, as she was recently in a scene with him in Night at the Museum 3.  But his death didn't mean a whole lot to me.

These other two though....damn.

I met him a few years ago, great guy, real pleasant. How bizarre that he had nothing to do with WWE for decades, until this weekend, and then he dies immediately after. shiat like this really makes me wonder how people can say there is no god, this shiat is too coincidental.

I just watched it, because I record RAW and watch it on Tuesdays. Yeah, it was strange.

It's very common for people about to commit suicide to appear happier/at peace because they've made up their mind and the burden of their situation is (about to be) off their shoulders.  Let's hope that's not the case here.

If the Raw promo was his suicide note I seriously might have to take time off from wrestling. It's selfish but God, let it be natural causes

How much you want to bet this ends up on every WWE graphic for the next year?

"Every man's heart one day beats its final beat, his lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others; it makes them believe deeper in something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make the running the man did live forever."

The problem with that idea is, for a man who may have had a terminal illness, he looked pretty darn good.

I have a bad feeling about this one...

I just can't buy that here. Watching the Hall of Fame Ceremony from Friday and how much adoration he was sending towards his kids, wife and mother. No way he was thinking of ending it himself unless he was in some kind of extreme pain and he sure didn't look like it Monday night.

RIP Warrior

I don't think natural causes happens at 54.  RIP and condolences and all, and I'm not foolish enough to speculate on exactly what happened.  Wow, not a big wrestling fan... but this one is kind of a shocker.

Holy shiat.........this was the last thing I was expecting to read.  I don't get chills often, but that seriously affected me just now.  As a pretty much life long fan growing up during his era, this really sucks.  What happened???

It could have been both.  He could have had a terminal illness and decided to check out early.

Pretty much anything beats dying of cancer (for example).

The same thing happened to Macho Man.  He and Vince had nothing to do with each other for decades.  Savage comes back, dies of a heart attack.

Dudes. How often did his promos cover the exact same ground vis-a-vis immortality and living through the fans and all that? Not taking that promo last night to be anything other than a usual stream of consciousness he always ran through, not at this point.

He apologized to everyone he crapped on and he pointed out how much the DVD hurt him in the hall of fame induction.  Real good odds on suicide and/or OD.  Reads like a suicide note.

I really hate to say it, but I'm 100% there with you.

I remember Benoit's death like it was yesterday. My wife was on her way home from work, and had just gotten off my job. I'll never forget the sound her car pulling up outside our house, because I thought "Damn, good timing, Raw just started". The black screen with his picture reading "Rest In Peace". I just froze, thinking "This is some farking sick joke, or a really weird new angle with Taker". They opened with Vince in the empty arena and I just remember tears coming down. My wife walked in and asked what was wrong. All I did was point to the screen and she just broke down. Days later, we were so angry at him for what he had done.

I really hope this isn't going to be another one of those times, but yeah, that feeling that something isn't right is there.

I'm not by any means a medical expert... and I assume "natural causes" could mean different things to different people... but if one dies at 54, I assume it was a disease or something far worse (suicide, etc.).

Do people outside of the third world just die in their sleep at 54?

Anyway... its rather sad all around.  Actually kinda shocking.
