Looks like the door bounced in front of him on the left, then crossed over and went down the right side.  But it's ok, he turned his head and protected his eyes.

He's a flim maker, not a stunt man.

FPS Russia is just good, dumb fun with guns and explosions, but I'm pretty sure there's a lot of green screen, outakes, and editing. It's fun to just see what guns can do, however.

A RAAF disposal crew winds a Japanese bomb on top of a winch to diffuse it and haul it away in a waiting truck after it struck an airfield at this New Guinea base in 1942 during World War II.

So...they spread the bomb out over a wide area? Or were they trying to defuse it?

If you screw it up, I'm pretty sure it gets diffused.

They're Aussies.  They'd just rub some dirt on it and drink a Fosters.

Green screen. If you look at his shirt you barely notice any movement and what little there is is easily attributed to recoil from the weapon.

If he had actually been that close to that truck, you would have noticed some definite movement, as if he was on a motorcycle going about 40 for a brief second from the concussion. At the very least you would have seen inflation in the shirt or the ripples in the back rearrange quite a bit. That explosion was big enough to knock someone off their lead leg into a backward step at that distance. Hell even a bird bomb would have flapped his shirt more noticeably at that distance.

This info may have changed, but...

If you need a drink, find the EOD guys.

They earned those drinks.

Hoisting my wine glass to Carroll...my mother's 3rd (or was it 4th?) husband. Combat engineer who landed on Omaha Beach on D-day. Came back missing an eye and half a hand. Died summer of 2010 at age 85 of heart attack. Nice guy...treated my mum right. Snappy AF salute, Carroll...thank you, sir!

there's a noticeable blast to his tshirt after the recoil, and it happens at about the same time as the concussion wave would have arrived ... and if I remember, his cameraman did get a bit of shrapnel to the head

I've been reading a lot of 1920s PopMech. People gladly used white lead, nitric acid, and cleared stumps with dynamite bought at the corner store. It seemed as if people lacked a sense for personal danger, or the Christians really used to believe.

And their ideas about the future of airplanes were outright silly.

wildcardjack: people lacked a sense for personal danger

The people who lack a sense of personal danger are the moderns.

So many useless safety measures in place now it distracts from the important ones.

Yeah, that power line in the back is fluttering like mad right after the explosion.  heh.  If that's CGI, that's some amazing detail.

I read the headline as robot protection suits and immediatly wondered if my robot insurance would cover a suit. It would be nice to have when they come for me, and they will.

Meh, that Old Glory insurance is a ripoff.  If the robots come for me, they're welcome to my Lisonpril, Simvastatin, Trilipex, and armloads of vitamins for their fuel.

/They'll have to pry the Xanax and Vodka from my cold, dead hands, though.  They're the only things keeping me from killing all the assholes around me-- barely.

I don't thing the explosion is CGI but the door and him added is.  The door tears across the grass throwing dirt but then the grass is unmarked.

I don't think that's a power line. I think it's the line he hangs the sheet from for color replacement so he can put both shots together in post production.

The explosion wasn't CGI. He wasn't CGI either. But he wasn't in front of the truck when it exploded.

Also notice that the line up above is in front of him, between him and the truck, and yet reacts AFTER his shirt does, like I said it's a green screen job.

Well, sorry, if the choice is between a fake Russian accent working safely with a greenscreen, or a crap load of tannerite at a "hold my beer" distance, Occam's Razor says i have to go with the Darwin Award attempt

/unless you are trolling, in which case, well done

I was fluent in Russian as a kid.

It's a fake Russian accent.
