5'2" and 92 lbs.?  Yeah, for 20-year-old Asian girls, that's gotta at least put her in the bottom 70th percentile for weight and BMI.

So can we flip this the other way around, and maybe admit that certain fat people may in point of fact have more issues than just "I eat way too damn much"?

I read an article about how Mac from "It's Always Sunny" got fat.  He was eating 5000 calories a day, only put on 40 pounds (and then stabilized there) and then dropped all the weight off in 2 months by stopping doing that.  No diet, just goes back to normal and drops 40 pounds in 20 months.  WTF?  Who do I have to murder to get *that* metabolism?

To put this into perspective, a pound is 3500 calories. So he dropped 140000 calories in 60 days.  That's a 2300 calorie deficit.  WTF?

Like eating too damn much.  Just to be clear.

Caffeine screws me up too hard, so I'd eat to stay awake during all-nighters.

Unless I'm deluding myself, that's not horrible. I'm 6'4, 270ish - built big, and carrying ~20-30# extra at least, but I wouldn't call that a "serious" thing, unless you're built slim (or something else - and feel free not to share if you don't want to, obviously). I know a guy an inch taller than me who's healthy at 180 (largely because his chest is concave, and my ribcage could hold a beer keg).

As an adult male, he's probably burning around 2500 calories a day anyway. If he's at 5000 calories and drops to what he would normally eat, you got there difference right there. He probably worked out a bit to help lose the weight because the body will slow down the metabolism if the change is that sudden, but he most likely did not need to starve himself.

Another issue may be sitting on their asses way too damn much.

Some people have legitimate medical issues to explain their weight, i feel for them - that sucks.  The vast majority of fatass Americans are overweight because they eat poorly and do too little physical activity.  Either that or apparently we just manifest more metabolic issues than pretty much every country in the world.

My mother was such an ass to me when I weighed around 105 pounds while attending university. She'd tell me I was anorexic because I was so skinny...while I was sitting there eating half a bag of Scottish butter shortbread cookies for breakfast. I was always eating, that one person who ate sandwiches during exams. I think she thought anorexic meant "You're just being skinny to spite me".

If you aren't a doctor, you don't really have much of a right to make a judgement on if someone is too skinny or fat to attend classes.

My ex isnt much bigger than that, and she's perfectly healthy, even popped out a couple kids.  She's just fit and has a ridiculous metabolism, and eats healthy.  She doesn't look extra skinny either, she's just small.

You're not deluding yourself.  I'm between 6'2" and 6'3" (people try to say I'm six-four, I think I'm six-two, was measured at six-two-point-five), and presently weigh about 250.  My healthy weight is somewhere between 230 and 250--when I was doing six 90-minute workouts a week, I was around 236, but I slacked off to three days a week during the winter and put on some pounds.  Two years ago, at my heaviest, I hit 260, which was unacceptable.

I'm no body builder--I'm just naturally bulky, all shoulders (my dad and his brothers were all football players, and I got the body type).  I'd say I'm carrying 15 pounds I can shed.

The only useful reaction to the erratic and overwrought hyperbole that is being sold as feminism these days is to allow it to rage and act erratically, then nod and smile and go about your business until, as usual, women as a group emerge as their own worst enemies.  And this will make you sad for them, but they'll stop shouting at you.  If any given ostensibly radical "movement" hopes to achieve it's goals by way of pestering and haranguing its alleged oppressors until said oppressors empower it, that movement has imploded at the starting line.

No.  We cannot.  Its simple physics.  You eat more energy than you use, you gain weight.  You eat less energy than your body uses, you lose weight.

The difference between the actor and you is that he had dedication and discipline on his side.  Anybody can do the things he did.

Unless your "dog" was a slight-framed 5'2" Asian girl wearing a dog costume, I'm not sure I see what your dog's weight has to do with anything here.

And while 92 lbs. would be ridiculously thin for a male of any height, and would be unhealthy for a thicker-framed woman even of her height, that weight doesn't seem abnormally low for someone of her height and build.  As I alluded to above, among petite-framed 20-year-old Chinese girls who stand about 5' tall, I'll bet the majoritytip the scales at less than 100 lbs.

I was thinking about this the other day.  I was at Subway and got a 6" sandwich for lunch.  Right behind me is another guy, about my height but definitely heftier, wearing typical office casual clothes.  He orders a 12".

There's likely no reason that guy needs twice the calories I do.  But he's developed a habit of eating too much, believing that he'll be hungry if he doesn't get that 12" instead of the 6.

There's studies out there that show that people will tend to fill a plate with food - so a larger plate = more calories consumed.  Hell, my g/f lost a number of pounds over a few weeks by simply not drinking a glass of wine every night.  Those parasitic calories add up.
