If you are a celebrity, and on any occasion you are forced to release a statement categorically denying that you are a geocentrist, someone in your organization needs firing.

So, Lawrence Krauss and Michio Kaku need to fire people, too?

She collected a paycheck for reading a script that said nothing about geocentrism.  Oh, the horror.

I think that a categorical denial is probably the wrong move, especially since the woman doesn't really have a career in acting anymore and has to take what work she can get.

What I would have gone with was "wait, are you sure it's serious?  I was under the impression that it was a joke."

// Mostly because I'm still 99.9999% sure that the 'geocentrism' movement is, in fact, a joke.  A Kaufman-school long-running one, but still.

I'm not sure if wanting to work with a talented actor/director is quite equivalent to lending one's voice to a whacko organization. It's not like Jodie was narrating 'Mel Gibson's Why the Jews Control the Monetary System.' She or her people should at least done an Internet search before accepting the gig.

Kaku's books are better than his voice. It just doesn't resonate with me.

Just saying.

Seems the documentary isn't so much about geocentrism as it is about the anthropic principle, with what seems to be a heavy bias toward a Christian exceptionalist worldview. I could be wrong, since they use "god" by itself, but usually when old white men are referencing "god" in a documentary about the universe, it's usually the Christian god.

I dunno. He comes off sounding like a real dude talking about science. Easy to understand. Something laymen like me appreciate.

So ... she couldn't figure it out when she was, you know, READING THE DAMN SCRIPT?!

2014-04-08 08:32:30 PM
The movie Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed lied to professional scientists and quoted Professor Richard Dawkins out of context so badly that many creationists now claim that Professor Dawkins seriously believes that life on Earth is the result of extraterrestrials, even though he has never espoused such a belief.

Religiously-motivated deniers of science are notoriously dishonest. I have no reason to believe that they did not lie, substantially, to Ms. Mulgrew regarding the nature of their work.

If I were her, that's the show I'd want to be known for, not the steaming pile that was Voyager.

Voyager isn't that bad. It is no way near as bad as the original Star Trek. Sure, Chakoay was a totally racist character, but Neelix might be the greatest Jar Jar Binks of all time.

All.
Time.

I'm willing to give TV and film's Capn Janeway a pass on this as she copped to being a professional for hire publicly, NTFS SUV SD ruling in large part to her spoofing old school Nick Fury and upon watching Voyager years later it's a lot better than I remember, even if Tom/B'elanna was a really annoying coupling.

I expect it was only after she found out it would be presented as real.

Newsflash: It is not unheard of for skeevy "independent" filmakers to get footage of credible people and later edit it into projects that those people have no knowledge of, and would not approve of. This is not even an unusual event.
