(New York Daily News)   Go home officer, you're drunk. No, as a matter of fact, you tried to run over your fellow officers. You're arrested for leaving the scene of an accident, DWI, reckless driving and refusing to take a breath test   (nydailynews.com ) divider line

Does that mean he gets promoted to Captain now or something?

He would've been fine if he hadn't inconvenienced other cops. Terrorizing the public is fine, but don't you dare fark with other cops. As a cop, you'd think that he'd know that.

One year paid leave should teach him a lesson.
Wait that seems like a two year infraction.

From TFA: He was released without bail

So, yeah.  Give it a few months for people to forget, and he'll make Sergeant.  He's certainly on the fast track.

Bingo. About the only time I see officers getting arrested is for screwing with other officers. Only other exception being sex crimes against children.

This poor man obviously should be placed on paid medical leave while he attends a 90 day alcohol rehab/treatment center. Then he should be reinstated and given a provisional license in order to operate his patrol car. Alcoholism is a disease.

I wonder if he would've been arrested if he hadn't hurt people. Most of the cops I know are pretty heavy drinkers. In fact, my cousin was a state trooper and got 2 dui's in a month. He still complains that if he hadn't hit those cars he wouldn't have had any problems. He is now a retired drunken former trooper.

C'mon guys, being a cop is stressful, a few cold ones or just letting it rain vodka down your throat is a normal way to cope.

"plowed through a traffic stop with 'police jumping out of the way'" would have gotten him much more serious charges had he not been a cop.

Promote this man to commissioner asap.

New York does not force a blood test so refusal of the breath test is a year license suspension but they can no longer prove DUI.  So better to refuse than to have evidence against you.  The cops know this,  So they use it.

Oh this guys is gonna be so suspended with pay.

9 month paid vacation then a plea deal down.

what would be hilarious, if they gave him a provisional drivers license and put one of those blow n go interlocks in his patrol car. he'd be taking a perp down to the station and have to stop every 10 minutes to blow.
/why not? the rest (most) civilians who get busted have to.

Give him a paid vacation and promotion.

If a cop has to move half an inch to avoid getting hit by your car, that's attempted murder where I'm from.

You move your car a little while pinned between cop cars? Executed by a hail of bullets.

You try to run over cops who literally have to jump out of the way to avoid being killed? Reckless endangerment charge, because you're also a cop.

There were consequences for breaking the law while badged, and then I got confused. And then it said "dailymail.com" and I thought I understood. But then it says NYPD and I'm confused again.

Ultimate contempt of cop, by another cop.

The seven-year NYPD veteran then drove off and plowed through a traffic stop with "police jumping out of the way," the document said.

Cops charged Haniff with leaving the scene of an accident, DWI, reckless driving and refusing to take a breath test. He was released without bail, but his license was revoked.

No bail, he still gets a pass?  Where is the felony charge of of assaulting a cop.  He still gets a break.
