Sorry, "scientists", but you just cannot compete on an intellectual level with Steve Doocy, the lady, and the guy who isn't Steve Doocy.

Right now, over at Fox somebody is getting his ass chewed out for letting those 14 stories through.

I know, right?  This is all obviously a scam so they can keep getting grants so they can travel the world doing "research".

Fun fact, that's actually what one of the hosts of "The Five" on Fox said a while back.

Who in their right mind thinks anything on Fox News is remotely true?  Aside from very old relatives that are slipping into the icy grasp of senility.

This is what I don't get...

In the AGW group, they keep chanting "follow the money". I follow the money and it keeps bringing me back around to the fact that there are groups that stand to lose a shiatLOAD of money if people actually woke up to climate change/global warming and started changing habits. The amount to gain is a mere pittance compared to what would be lost.

Conclusion: they deny global warming because there is more money to be made in being a denier than an accepter. So their "follow the money" mantra just falls on its face.

Seriously, at what point do we start censuring "news" services like Fox?

Entertainment is fine. Misleading the public should carry some penalty. Murdoch is getting stinking rich off this shiat.

FTA: "Worse, Fox viewers greatly outnumber those of CNN and MSNBC (1.76 million, 568,000, and 640,000 respectively) "

Man, do we love to just go crazy about what a viewership comprising, according to the article, 0.5% of the country watches. Yeah, it stupid and every day there's a lie or something crazy, but I just don't get the outrage over such a minor demographic (according to article).

I always love that talking point.

If you're lucky, you'll get a lot more derp than that. Fark Climate Change Threads™ still prove to be a badly managed circus. The bonus is that someone might post something recent and useful about AGW despite the derp, in accordance with Poe's Law.

You must've missed that the author is Phil Plait. The guy could write for the local newspaper, it doesn't matter who hosts it. I haven't seen a huge change in his style or content since he moved there.

My favorite denier "logic" is "Science has been wrong in the past therefore we should never trust science ever again". That basically a third of their reasoning against climate change. However they only seem to use that belief when it becomes convenient for them.

This is what I don't get: If you honestly believe the vast majority of the scientific community is either (a) wrong, or at least (b) over-exaggerating the state of climate change and/or the role of human activity affecting it, how exactly are you so confident in your belief that you aren't at least willing to hedge your bet just a little?

The complete hand-wave dismissal and outright refusal to change anything in our way of life is the staggering part. Haggling over figures is actually somewhat normal.

This is no surprise; for example just last week Fox News was reporting on the Affordable Care Act, and used a seriously misleading graph. It was so stupendously bad that it even got lampooned by Saturday Night Live:

God, the SNL 'Fox and Friends' skits are so awesome!

Honestly? It's hard to make CC go over because people don't or won't see the impacts now.

They think we need a "Day After Tomorrow" wall of water towering down on NYC to prove it.

I am against the climate change folks just out of spite for how arrogant they come across when it comes to debating the issue. Their premise for this 'study' is based on them already being right about everything.

What they can't seem to realise is it's not that everyone is completely idiotic. It's that people don't believe the climate change scientists because they haven't earned any credibility. Between evidence of them falsifying data and a history of failed predictions, it's like listening to the scientists hired by Big Tobacco saying smoking isn't linked to cancer.

We know these climate scientists have an agenda because we know who is paying them.

The funny thing is they never tried to debate or convince anyone in the first place, they just went straight to the condescending rhetoric. Then they wonder why no one takes them seriously any more. The messiah Al Gore makes a fool of himself every now and then thinking he still has clout.

2014-04-08 03:14:08 PM
The last thing scientists want to do is agree with each other. The right-wing crock about scientists conspiring to affirm global warming for the sake of eco-fascism/Gaia/whatever is just more foul ordnance best left in the GOP diaper pail.
