This was much more entertaining when they were snapping their fins and had Jerome Robbins as their choreographer.

Thank goodness they weren't land sharks.

I'm also pretty confident it's not supposed to be a "gang of sharks."

It's a battery of barracudas, a glint of goldfish and a shiatstain of sharks.

There is a reason I'm extremely terrified of open water. I love being out on boats, but even in a plain old lake, I'm horrified of falling overboard as I have absolutely no idea what's underneath me.

Fun fact;  there used to be a snapping turtle at the Chattanooga Freshwater Aquarium that weighed over 800 pounds. When the TVA was dredging the Tennessee River nearby, the dredge pulled it up from the bottom and dumped it into the waste material barge. The operator thought it was a boulder until it started crawling away. I saw it there several years ago and it had a head the size of a five gallon bucket...

Back in the lat 80's, my dad's boss invited him and eye out with his sons to go fishing off the shore of Long Beach. We spent the day out there and in the afternoon, the other kids and I decided to dive into the ocean to cool off.

I've always been a decent swimmer so I had no problem diving in from the tip of the boat. Then once I was in, I realized that I was in the middle of the freaking ocean with no beach nearby and my only harbor was a crappy ladder off the back of the boat.

I don't know I've ever swam so fast as I did to that crappy ladder.

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!

When I would visit my grandparents in northern Arkansas back as a youngin, I'd go play in a local creek while they afternoon napped. There was a snapping turtle there that would fascinate me, while scaring the crap out of me because I knew it could give me the nickname "Stubby" very easily.

I almost felt bad when I was eating some snapping turtle soup in New Orleans a few months ago, but it was just so delicious!

No, this is incorrect. The snapping turtle in question was 249 lbs.Slight exaggeration on your part.

When I was a kid and lived in Miami we used to go down to the docks where the fishing boats would come in at the end of the day. They'd clean the fish and throw the scraps over the side and there's be sharks (though usually small ones) and barracudas everywhere eating them. It was pretty cool.

I used to work offshore on tugboats, when I developed that phobia.  I can't set foot on a boat anymore.  (They made me the dispatcher, which I was much more suited for, anyway.)

Does it get worse? Can phobias grow? Because I think I have a milder version. I love swimming, but sometimes I'll swim far out to sea before I suddenly realise I'm terrified of the sea. I have to slowly and calmly begin making my way back to the shore and resist the urge to panic. If I'm with people and don't want to look scared I just have to ignore it and hope I forget. Also being able to see under the sea only makes it worse. Goggles or snorkelling gear, something about seeing for miles in crystal clear oceans, all the way down, freaks me out. I've decided it's mainly acrophobia, which I don't have on dry land, coupled with a bit of fear of the unknown, and being attackable in 3d.

I'd hate for it to get to the point where I can't even step foot in the ocean ever again.
