I'd like to see what the results would be if they used actual quantitative metrics instead of just reader voting.

Monsanto is a way more evil company.

I don't get all the Comcast hate. They have the fastest internet available in my area so I went with them. I've had a few outages but that's to be expected. Other than that they have been really good. Maybe it's different if you have Comcast for TV which I agree does leave something to be desired.

Your comment implies that you have actual competition in your area.  A few years ago I had an apartment that had Comcast only as as ISP.

It was Tuesday, the internet would die, it was November 1, the internet would die, there was an earthquake in Japan,  the internet would die, the next door neighbor would flush their toilet,  the internet would die...

Everytime, they would roll a truck/van to fix it.

Eventually it got worked out, but not after at least 8 months of sporadic outages as well as at least 15 techs stopping by my place...I gotta wonder how many times they came to the 400+ unit complex as a whole...

even with competition, Comcast blows monkey chunks. We have Verizon FIOS and, while Verizon tech support leaves a bit to be desired, they are far more reliable that we haven't had a need to call tech support because of outages

Wal-Mart is likely more evil than Comcast as well.

It's own workers are on food assistance, which brings in additional revenue for Wal-Mart when its own workers spend their SNAP benefits at the store they also work at.

That is grossly unethical.

I don't get it either, where I used to live I had Comcast.  No complaints whatsoever, the cable was way faster than the available DSL there, price was fair, virtually no outages.

I was happy to see Comcast finally get the recognition it deserves.  In previous years, I always found that Comcast went down whenever I tried to vote.

/I'm pretty sure bring back data caps and throttling Netflix until they paid for a peering agreement was Comcast's big move to pure darkness.

Comcast for just internet is fine if you are OK with monopolies.  I used to have them for TV and it was the worst experience in my life.  Calling them was atleast an hour long adventure of being on hold or being transferred to the wrong person or being transferred to a dial tone.  I have not had many issues with them as just my ISP.

Their DVRs in my area blow they looked like old VHS players and were only dual tuners with small hard drives.

Doesn't Comcast win this every year? *goes to Google*

They won it in 2010.
BP won in 2011, but they earned every bit of that win (fending off Bank of America to get the title).
EA won in 2012.
Only came third last year (losing to AT&T and Ticketmaster). Awwww.

But they've been in the Top 3 or Top 5 every year at least since 2010. They're like the Dan Marino of shiatty customer service.

// or that guy that "lost" 6 straight Tour de Frances to Lance (but they've both since been DQ'd for chugging yak sweat or whatever)

Try getting TW to work with TiVo. I have to call weekly to get channels reinstated.

I guess I'm the only person who hasnt had a single issue with Comcast. I've had cable and internet through them for years and can count on one finger the number of outages I've had with both services. When I moved, the Comcast guy was at my new house ahead of schedule and had my service hooked up in minutes. Just last week, I came home to find out my cable modem had died after 3+ years of continuous operation. I tried resetting it and verified the line in was not the issue, so I called in and told the first level operator "my modem is dead, I tried resetting it, checked the line and nothing has resolved the issue. Also, I'm a network engineer by profession, so please don't speak to me like I'm the average idiot customer." The operator said "Sounds like you tried everything already; take the dead one in and exchange it. I'll mark it in the ticket." 20 minutes later, I was home from the local Comcast office with a brand new modem and a few minutes later it was up, provisioned, and my service was restored and running faster than before. Personally, I got no problem with Comcast.

Verizon, now they can go eat a bag of dicks with ranch dressing.

LOL I bought Tivos after 2 months of the crappy Comcast boxes.  Jesus was that an ordeal.  Install guy had no clue how to set it up so he slid the card in and then left. So I called in and they said only the install people had access to get the channels working.  It took a good 2 days before they finally got it working, then I went and got another Tivo and same thing happened.

I'm happy for you... someone deserves a fair shake now and then.  I never was pleased with their slow, patronizing customer service, their ever-increasing prices for the same iffy service, their absolute-sh*t DVR and On Demand system, and their set-top boxes had to be changed out more often than the batteries in the remotes.

I switched to Uverse, slower internet and all, and haven't regretted it since.

This has always amazed me, since, as a customer, there actually appears to be competition in the cell phone market.  Yet, despite that illusion of competition, their customer service is terrible and the cost is enormous.  If I didn't live in the sticks (and have my sister and parents on my plan) I'd dump them in a heartbeat.

I never had a problem with Comcast TV/internet services either. And any time I have ever called I got took care of quickly. The only time a Comcast guy was here was when I first got hooked up years ago. And he got the hookup and setup done fast and was gone.

I must be lucky on this or something. It's the only thing.

Yeah, it costs too much. It costs too much anywhere.

2014-04-08 02:20:59 PM
Once Comcast service is set up, it's OK. But trying to communicate any kind of problem or set-up issue to them is horrible. Any problem I've had with them with internet, I've solved myself with five minutes of Googling after exhausting their pitiful "support" resources.
For TV, it's been a moving target for the last couple of years with their service changes. Last year they went digital and you have to have a dumb little adapter/converter for most TVs. This cut my Tivo functionality in half. Now they apparently are going to "encrypt" the basic QAM tuner signal stuff too, so some new equipment will be needed, undoubtedly with a fee, just so I can watch the same TV I formerly could without their "help".
It's gratuitous changes like this that benefit only them that makes Comcast so hated. Is it any wonder people are going back to antennas for OTA broadcast?

Let's see, the derpster generation thinks poor cable service is worse than planetary genocide.

Starving : Can I have that corn please?
Nut: Sorry, we're banning this corn because it's been genetically modified to contain a bacterial protein evolved to be activated in the alkaline gut of a herbivorous insect.
Starving: Is that bad?
Nut: Um....yes!
Starving: Can't I digest virtually any type of protein regardless of it's origin?
Nut: I'm not sure, can't really remember what exactly a protein is....either way that corn is evil I tell you!
Starving: So the GM corn is poisonous?
Nut: Well we don't know. But most studies indicating a link between GMO and adverse health have been soundly ridiculed by the scientific community...Ridicule is a kind of hard applause I think.
Starving: Maybe It causes cancer?
Nut: I'd like to think it does. Trust me, the organic corn is just better for you.
Starving: May I have some now?
Nut: Gee I'd love to let you have some for only twice the cost of that awful GM corn. Or...or, tell you what why don't you plant some organic corn in your own country?
Starving: We don't have the machinery, expertise, climate, capital or infrastructure to farm corn on a large enough scale.
Nut: Hmmm, that is a problem.
Starving:......
Nut: To be honest with you I have it so good in America that I'm bored. I hate corporations because....um....commercialism is bad. I hate things I don't understand but I pretend that I do understand those things. And frankly it's just fashionable to hate GM food.
Starving: I see your point, guess I'll go back to eating tree bark and burning your old electronics in an open pit to salvage the metals.

Me either.  They used to be the only game in town, and they didn't suck.  Now, even with Verizon and Mediacomm hot on their proverbial heels, they still don't suck.  Extremely reliable internet, to the point I can't remember the last time it was out, and tv is fine.  There were a couple of pixellating glitches when they were moving the majority of broadcasts to HD etc, but the occasional billip of squares across the screen wasn't anything that upset me.

Now if I could just get Verizon to leave me the fark alone.  I have cell with Verizon.  I have internet and cable with Comcast and I"m just fine, thank you.  I do not want a home phone from either, thank you.

Same here. I've installed CableCards on a TiVo HD, a Premiere, and a Premiere 4, and Comcast has always been easy to deal with. Call the 800 number on screen, read the tech the pairing codes, and in a matter of minutes everything is working. They really have a smooth process in my area.

Verizon FIOS, on the other hand, was a huge PITA. The on installer was on the phone for over an hour trying to get it paired. Verizon bailed out of FIOS in my area, and sold the service to Frontier, causing everything to promptly go to shiat. The internet started going out regularly, I had billing issues, and they eventually stopped offering TV service to new customers. When I moved to a new place, I just went back to Comcast to avoid the hassle of an ONT install. In the two years since I left them, I was pleasantly surprised that Comcast has actually improved quite a bit. They had increased the number and quality of their HD channel lineup a s internet speeds were a lot better. I've had them ever since, and I have to say that Comcast of now is so much better than the Comcast I left in 2007.

I don't understand how Sea World beat anyone nor why they are on the list.  Must be something I don't know.
GM could not beat Chase even with that last round knock out punch about them knowing of deadly ignition switch problems and sweeping it under the rug?  Sure Chase may have had the match prior, but that should clearly have been a brutal finishing blow.
Target fails to protect the payment and other information of their customers and McDonalds beats them?
And of course the championship - as many have mentioned Monsanto is far more evil.

I hate Crapcast, but they clearly stole victory here.

SeaWorld I suppose because they forgot to free willy or something.

I wonder how many people who hate McDonalds are actually customers?

i don't really like mcdonalds, but i go there every 6 months or so just to remind myself how good i eat at home.   plus, its a nice change every once in a while.

Just because the owners of Koch Industries are political lightning rods doesn't make the company they own any more evil than others.

I would like also like to voice that, although I would love to have additional options, Comcast has actually been pretty good for our house.  We have had one outage in 10 years of living there and never had to have a tech come.
