I had a white car once.  Big Effing Mistake.  Will. Never. Own. Another. One.

I bought a used car and it's white. There are two other identical cars on the lot outside work. I hate that.

Hasn't apple gotten away from white devices? I thought gold is where it's at now.

I liked my white cars.  They wouldn't get dirty, they'd just slowly turn gray until you washed them.

I wouldn't own a white car just because they look like fleet vehicles.  Plus it's a boring color.

I always liked the white Acura TL from about 10 years ago, it made me think of some kind of shuttlecraft from a space movie or something.

If you live where it is hot and sunny... white is the way to go.

/still wouldn't drive a white car

I dunno, I like white and light colored cars because they aren't ovens in the summer.  Oh sure they get hot, but there is a noticeable difference.  Makes the air conditioner work more efficiently.

Yeah, it's AOL.  I think they meant to say the hottest new color is beige because of Apple Computers.

It's because people are boring. I had to make a 10 hour round trip to get my most recent car in a proper color. Purple. Everything around here is white or its bastard stepchild silver.

2014-04-08 11:34:50 AM
I'm not a huge fan of white vehicles (heck, and I have a white truck). Not too many look at that great in white- some are stunning in white (the Testarossa from Miami Vice among them), but most just look bland.

But then, Lexus and Cadillac have a nice metallic cream color that looks amazing.

2014-04-08 11:56:05 AM
Most people are boring and are afraid to be different.  Even in the world of classic cars most of them are the same colors and the same things and that's a world where personalization is the thing.

2014-04-08 12:06:39 PM
I bought a white SUV because it was cheaper than the darker colors by about 4 grand.

2014-04-08 12:28:28 PM
I bought a white car because Houston is hot as fark in the summer. I had a darker car with dark interior for the first four years I lived here that was essentially a 30mpg torture chamber for the first 5 minutes you sat in it. Never again.

The hottest car color is white because it reflects heat and global warming.

For me a car is merely a means to move my fat ass from point A to point B. I couldn't care less what color it is.

2014-04-08 12:41:38 PM
I used to think white was the absolute worst color for a car. But now I want a white Scion FR-S which I feel is the best color for it out of the options available. Of course, World Rally Blue would be better than white on a  BR-Z.

Now gold/beige/sand holds the mantle for worst color.

I drove a white car in college.  I lived across the street from the school power plant and they had an 'incident' which coated my car in goo.

The school gave me a check for damn near $2000 to get it repainted.  I got it detailed for $80 and it was good enough for me. After that I swore off white cars.

But then my wife came into the marriage with a white car, and now I'm driving it.

I am shopping for a car right now. 90% of dealer stock is black, white or silver. All that does for me is tell me how nice red metallic looks. Especially when it is right next door to those drab colors.

Blue metallic is very nice too.

I get a ton of kudos for my White Dodge Challenger with blue Mopar striping.

I'm not sure I understand coordinating your car color with your phone. Wouldn't the interior color matter more? Or do these people just stand next to their car with their phone out, hoping someone notices?

I'd rather my car be the silver metal color of my MacBook Pro. Just sayin'. (Do they make cars with matte finishes?)

While I'm here, have car color gotten more... unoriginal? Mostly they come in 3 shades of black, 3 shades of gray and several ugly shades of beige, such as greenish beige, grayish beige, and the ever-popular baby-puke beige.

Needlessly Complicated: (Do they make cars with matte finishes?)

Only some extremely expensive vehicles (Lamborghini has done it, you can probably get most six-figure sports and luxury cars in a matte finish if you're willing to pay whatever they ask for it). I'm not sure how well a matte finish will hold up though- there's a reason everybody clearcoats things nowadays.

I have never even heard of this car before today.  I saw one on the drive in to work.  Now, this.

Did I just slide into an alternate dimension, where everything is the same, but this car exists?

White was a hot color 20 years ago too. Nobody's computers were white at the time.

The horribly sexist joke we used to make back then was that women would choose white because they thought their only alternatives were harvest gold or avocado green.

Did they pay twice as much for them too?

Nope, I'll bet there are a number of relatively ordinary cars around that many people didn't know existed.

Some just off the top of my head:

Suzuki Kizashi

Subaru BR-Z (as I mentioned earlier)

I've had white and black cars in the past. Both require a time commitment for cleaning I no longer have to give. I'll stick with my gray truck. Best vehicle color ever.

2014-04-08 02:37:21 PM
The trend right now, and you'll see this on many -most, maybe- commercials, and on the road is a white car with black roof.

2014-04-08 02:38:55 PM
Uh... my car is white because that's the color they had with a good price when I was looking for a specific make and model used. Had the best deal been lime green, my car would be lime green.

2014-04-08 02:41:01 PM
I've had blue, black, red, silver, and green.  I was thinking for my next used car I'd like to go white, but I really like this blue on a 2006 Volvo.

Why would anyone own a white car when you can buy a silver one labeled "blue?"

Silver is apparently the new blue. And black. And everything in between.

2014-04-08 02:54:53 PM
Have two white vehicles now (F250 and RAV4)....why?  Because 1) I live in the farking desert and it's hot, and 2) because I just like white vehicles.  Hide the dirt better too (except mud obviously)

Land Ark: Suzuki Kizashi

Well, not that one anymore. Suzuki is out of the US auto market. Mostly because nobody knew they still existed (and those who did, for the most part, weren't missing anything). The Kizashi was, by all accounts, a decent car but way too little way too late.

I dream of a day where the highway looks like somebody scattered a bunch of skittles, m&ms, and jolly ranchers all over the place!

But now all we have is a bunch of oatmeal, cream of wheat and grits as far as the eye can see. :(

Amen.

There may be a lot of practical reasons to own a white car.  In which case I will just have to accept that I'm impractial.

Yes, the most notable product that Apple sells is its iPod.  I see these kids with iPods all over the place.  Wait - website is AOL - is this a leftover April Fools joke article from 10 years ago?

Other than the white iPhone and iPod Touch, I don't think Apple has had any white devices for several years now...
