They both get naked at the drop of a hat?

2014-04-08 10:30:09 AM
Many GoT characters are also like Star Wars characters.

2014-04-08 10:32:29 AM
Not convinced until I see ever single one of these Disney princesses nude.

2014-04-08 10:32:50 AM
Is it the UFIA ? or would that just be FIA?

They both like floppy flacid non-gay weiners?

GoT isn't only about the nudity. Right?

..right?

Um...

So this is the week where everyone tries to get a Game of Thrones story up just to whore for page views?

great....

2014-04-08 10:40:19 AM
Ok, when Cinderella watches her dad get his head cut off; then you can talk to me about how Disney princess = GoT

2014-04-08 10:42:01 AM
GoT sucks.  The only vaguely interesting parts in the books was about the watchers on the wall.

2014-04-08 10:42:27 AM
So I guess I can go ahead and expect at least one click-bait article that tangentially mentions Game of Thrones in some fashion to be popping up every day here?

/I like the show, but seriously, I'm getting sick of a billion-plus articles with people weaving it into utterly unrelated crap

2014-04-08 10:42:48 AM
GAH .. now my brain is filling in the blanks .. Little Mermaid as Melisandre

2014-04-08 10:45:43 AM
well there went my childhood

Cuzco is completely a Disney princess

2014-04-08 10:46:15 AM
Yeah--the two things I  never want to merge in my brain are  GoTand Disney films.

Heck--I don't ever want to see Disney characters doing adult things.

Call me old and conservative, but I do think some things deserve to be as sacred as revisionist, vaguely cis-male-hegemony-endorsing, anglo-centric stories can be.

2014-04-08 10:46:36 AM

Old enough to know better: They both get naked at the drop of a hat?

Naked lesbians?

Well its a good thing you are far above enjoying these stories unlike the 25 million people who bought the books.

I mean, how stupid can people be to like things that don't meet your standards ? Am I right ?

Now that you mention it, I'm actually surprised she hasn't done that to the little chubby curly haired girl that's always mean to her.

Really?  I feel the opposite way.  I love the politics, the intrigue, the manipulation.  For me, that's the draw of the books way more than the fantasy elements.

Not really a 'fantasy' guy. (Unless Gaiman counts, then totally a 'fantasy' guy). So can someone tell me why GoT isn't just LotR with T&A?

I mean, is there anything really that special? Or is it just (literally) geek porn?

GoT doesn't have the same characters as LoTR?

Realistically just about all fantasy series or books are going to be somewhat derivative of LoTR. LoTR was essentially the grandfather of fantasy fiction, if not the Genghis Khan too. GRRM specifically left out common fantasy aspects like (actual) dwarves or elves because he thought they were too played out. Look at series like the WoT, Shannara, and Sword of Truth. They all have most, if not all, of the same fantasy elements as LoTR.

LotR has good guys and bad guys.  The good guys don't do anything bad, the bad guys don't do anything good.  They are vile, inhuman even.

GoT takes a lot of the intrigue and political maneuvering from European history.  There isn't a good side or a bad side.  In the story the Starks could be argued to be good, but it is ambiguous.  Their armies rape and pillage just as much as the Lannisters, though they aren't encouraged to do so.  The whole war is provoked by the Stark mom going ape shiat and kidnapping someone on a whim.

LotR isn't remotely as complex as GoT.  LotR is a morality tale.  GoT is about humanity, at our best and worst.

It's actually less fantastic than Lord of the Rings.
More like the Tudors with dragons and the occasional ice zombie.

Not to sounds like a farm boy, but Tywin sent unsigiled raiders into the Riverlands to provoke the Tullys into attacking, thus breaking the king's peace. Even then, the war doesn't really start until the Lannisters attack the Riverlands. Robb doesn't even call the banners until Ned is imprisoned.
