Horse thief? I'm pretty sure that's still a capitol offense here in Arizona and probably some of the other western states. Kid's lucky he's up north.

This kid seems like the kind of person that needs a constructive outlet rather than punishment.

It's not, but perhaps it should be. Stealing someone's means of livelihood was tantamount to murder back in the old west. Having had my trade tools stolen by some worthless crackhead, I know from first hand experience how devastating it is.

That is an interesting kid.

So now I've just read TFA and...

He got a lot of attention last fall after he was charged with "borrowing" a 1971 Cessna stored at the small Roseau airport many times over several months and flying it to Thief River Falls where he was living and also to a North Dakota farm where he worked briefly.

Bravo! That was my first thought, too. The documentary I saw about him was very interesting. IIRC they called him "The Barefoot Bandit".

He's in trouble for letting his horses loose, but nobody thinks they're really his horses.

Is there something wrong in the heads of those people in Rouseau?

And I need to learn how to spell. (A lap dance wouldn't hurt, either.)

Yep, that was his media name. As another poster has already opined it's a shame a life with so much talent and promise has to go to waste for lack of guidance and adult supervision. Last I heard his federal sentence is about to be terminated and the state prosecutors are trying to stack him up with about 20 years of prison. What he's going to learn in all these lockups is how not to get caught next time.

"He needs to get serious really quick," Mariann Biteman said. "I don't know how to help him. I shouldn't have bailed him out as many times as I did."

/sounds like you need to find someone to give him a good ass kicking, and cut him loose. Don't worry, his stupidity will land him in the corrections world, where we, the taxpayer, will pay for your failing as a parent.

/thanks.

Gee. I guess he didn't get that stern talking to early enough.

/either that or a crack in the ass and go to your room until I say you can come out.

I don't know if she tried to discipline him, but I've a feeling this boy's a lot smarter than his mother. She was lost from the get-go. In my case, that meant that short of literal incarceration my parents could not have controlled me. Fortunately I never got caught. And none of the stuff I did was malicious, just kids having fun. Wised up in my mid '20s finally, but I was (still am) smarter than my folks.

That boy's got a purdy mouth. I bet he'll be really popular in the joint. Why don't you just drop them pants boy. Drop 'em!
