Since we already have a recent Goonies thread, this really should have a Followup tag.

Also, as much as I loved the original Goonies movie, this is really something that doesn't need a sequel IMO. From our previous thread, their was more than a few people biatching about the original movie and how it should DIAF, but you know what? Look at the movie in other ways; for example, I really loved the fact how the character "Sloth" was treated with respect from the kids despite the fact he's different.

He was born physically and mentally deformed, yet he becomes part of the heroes of the movie and even finds himself a loving family. That was an awesome message they shared in the movie on tolerance and respect of people and their differences in addition to the silly antics of it all.

/Heyyy youuuu guuyyyyyssss
//Screw the haters, it's an awesome family movie.

As soon as they open up the briefcase of money and show him it, he'll change his mind.

Who are you kidding, Corey?

You'd do it for scale and a baggie full of cocaine.

Aged rather nicely. How about a few nude scenes?

If you're worried that a sequel of The Goonies might interfere with your planned reunion of The Two Coreys, I've got some good news for you Mr Feldman.

Corey Feldman's outrageous demand is a great script that captures the magic of the original? What a monster.

Seriously, people can make fun of him all they want, but Corey Feldman at least has standards.  If it's not up to the high quality of The Lost Boys sequel, he's not going to do it.

2014-04-07 03:45:42 PM
It seems The Goonies are not, in fact, good enough.

2014-04-07 03:55:06 PM
pffft.... Once someone offers him a pay check, I bet he suddenly sees that the new script is absolutely perfect and this is a sequel that has to be made.

2014-04-07 03:55:14 PM
If you're gonna make a "sequel" to the goonies, just make it a whole bunch of different kids, in a different place, on a different sweet childhood adventure. Take the formula of good things that worked, and plug new stuff into it, don't try and cram things in to fit the original.

Have no doubt they'll screw it up, so no Goonies 2!

I was going to bring up the TWO sequels to Lost Boys as a point that refutes he will turn anything down.

Knock Donner around all you want, but he usually tells a good story.

Pfft, Corey Feldman will sign up to appear at your bar mitzvah for an open bar tab.

Corey Feldman should do a Corey Haim sequel.

He may have a problem convincing John Matuszak.

Jesus, I wish I could afford to be delusional on a professional level...

Seriously, he put out a few good movies then turned into a wacko, why the hell does he think he has any power to demand ANYTHING?

I was wondering how long it's been since he directed a movie.  8 years?  Who is he, Def Leppard?

I heard he was out when he found out they wouldn't be punching random parts of the walls of rooms (or smashing them with a hammer) in their quest to save a mermaid.

TWO sequels?  Seriously?!  The sequel had a sequel?!

What's lower than Direct-to-Video?  Posted to Youtube, maybe?

LOL yeah right.

I bet he would do it for free, no matter what the script.

He would probably pay to be in a movie, any movie.

I've met with him a couple of times, and he suffers from Hollywood thinks you're too old and not hip enough anymore. I'd kill to see what he would do with Superman again with modern effects and cannon.

You'd think he's had enough legit hits just from Supes and Lethal Weapon to make him bankable.

No Chunk, no Goonies. Jeff Cohen hasn't been fat, nor has he acted, in 20 years.

THIS.  It's Corey farking Feldman.  It's funny he's trying to act like he has integrity like he's DDL or something.  Actions speak louder than words, buddy.

Ridley had Tony up until very recently and they played a different game than Richard. Not an executive so I have no idea the actual difference in careers or whether my nostalgic memory for Donner films is simply that nostalgia. Nice guy though, gives great notes to young screen writers.

Seriously, what the fark was up with that game? Was it some weird Japanese game reskinned to be Goonies?

Oh yeah I guess they produce(d) as well. Whenever I think of producers and Richard Donner I think of the Salkinds.

I laughed too hard at this

The actor's commentary on the DVD is great.  Sean Astin gets up and leaves because Feldman is so . . . .

2014-04-07 05:19:39 PM
Child actors, they are plentiful and cheap. Just be sure to get some contract clauses that allow you to continue to underpay them if your movie is a hit and becomes a trilogy.

dadio86: The actor's commentary on the DVD is great.  Sean Astin gets up and leaves because Feldman is so . . . .

Sean Astin had to leave halfway through recording DVD commentary for "The Goonies" because the recording session started late, and Sean had an earlier commitment to introduce friend Joe Pantoliano at a local theatre. He left the recording studio to change his clothes, then returned to apologize and explain why he had to leave. Sean gave a "shout out to Joey Pants," and jokingly left an action figure of Samwise Gamgee (his character from the "Lord of the Rings" films) at his seat to take his place.

However, Sean's departure and explanation were edited out of the finished product by the DVD producers for reasons unknown, making it look like Astin simply vanished from the studio.

It is REALLY hard for him to get time off from the local 7-11...

Who is he kidding, if someone wants him in a major motion picture he will work for peanut butter & almond joys.

It is, watching it with their commentary was a surprisingly good laugh.

I'd wager he'd do it, but his line readings aren't very life-like these days.
