AltheaToldMe: "her sons Astala and Phaedra "

Well, it is unlikely that she named her daughter after the figure in Greek mythology.  Maybe she was a Lee Greenwood fan:

Did anyone see a monkey leaving the area?

Also, "model"?  At best, she's Spelling-class, which is still a grade below Local Car Dealership-class.

When someone on Facebook was wondering if they found Astala and Phaedra in the house, I wondered what types of drugs they were (and I submitted it with this as part of a much better headline, etc.).

Also: I guess Bob Geldof still don't like Mondays. That would also have been a better headline.

I was thinking a Paparazzi/ Princess Di sort of thing.  The British tabloids had cameras up her ass for the last 10 years+.  It was the standard for the uselessness of the British Tabloids every time they reported Peaches Geldof "news."  She did nothing to deserve the attention, did not seek it and was mostly only famous for having a National Hero for a Dad.

MassAsster: Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof

Whats with famous people and strange names...

The Upper Classes have all the good names. They can name their eldest son John for seven hundred years without a qualm.

The Gentry ape the Upper Classes but have a longer and thus weirder list of names, mostly coined from the maiden names of their mothers or buried in antiquity, seeing as this class of people consists of sturdy durable families that may have lived on the same plot of land for hundreds or thousands of years with very little but the occasional civil war to trouble them..

The Upper Middle Classes are prone to fashion in all things, and while they may adopt the names of the Upper Classes and Gentry out of snobbery, they will also invent. God save us from middle class cleverness, but they do invent!

The super rich media types are forced to be original. A common name does not open any doors in the Biz and even a comic-tragic name is better than no name at all.

The proper and serious Middle Classes ape the Upper Middle Classes or stick with family names that have been passed down as "heirloom" names.

The Lower Middle Classes name their children after famous people they admire for a moment such as soap opera characters, stars or football players.

The Upper Lower Classes give good bluff hail-fellow-well-met names or else follow the pattern of one of the higher classes.

The Lower classes have no names and no real hopes of making any for themselves so they are free to invent names or use nicknames to the almost complete exclusion of their baptismal names (if their parents ever bothered to have them baptized or christianed or whatever).

And the lower criminal classes have cast off bourgeois names and are known solely by pseudonyms for their own protection.

Traditional naming systems were designed to ensure that 1) people would know who your people are and 2) the names of the dead would not die with them but would be carried through the generations to keep some part of the dead alive among the living.

I could explain some of these in some detail but they drive me nuts because they are never so universal that you can assume they will be used. This makes a genealogist's life harder than it needs to be because what's the use of naming your first born after his grandparent or uncles or godparents if you aren't going to all use the same system consistently?

I've plenty of examples of all of these systems of baby-naming in my family tree, which now numbers over 56,000 people, probably 54,000 if I cleaned up all the duplications and errors and unconnected groups of people I haven't finished researching.

Each class abhors and eschews anything the next lower class likes and thus there is a sort of stripey pattern in society where one man's meat is another man's poison for all those above and below him.

The people at the top and bottom get on fine because they are all a bunch of con-artists and thieves.

AgentPotHead is it cause she's a "pretty white girl"? fark that shiat. Thousands of people die daily, what about them?

I never heard of her either.  Haven't thought anything of her father since last time I watched The Wall.
Still a shame though.

And I hate that the news reports this with the only explanation being that her death is completely unexplained.
What the hell does that mean?!

Seemed pretty clear to me - they are still investigating.  it was apparently not clearly a homicide or suicide, and she also wasn't known to have an illness that would cause her to drop dead (like cancer) so they are going to have to do an autopsy, etc.
