Hey it's no problem, I understand there's camps you can go to where you can pray your gay and get cured. I mean they must work great, Ted Haggard went and got cured.

To Catholics credit, they have begun to move from "moral failing" involving the altar boys, and more toward the Bishops living in mansions on the parishioner's tithes

"after confessing to a moral failing in his life which disqualifies him from continuing his leadership role."

Disqualified from being a church leader, eh?  Looks like God doesn't forgive, after all.

I think this is the church my sister's husband went to when they first started dating. The church where my sister hated the pastor so much she claimed she was praying for a sex scandal so he'd be forced to leave.

Good for him for admitting his failings and stepping down from leadership.  I'm sure we all hope he can get the help he obviously needs.

shiat. Pulled the trigger too soon.

All sins are the same - sin is sin, and it separates us from God - but some sins are worse than others. Obviously.

You mean people who steal millions of dollars from others, buy mansions and live like kings, all under the guise of a religion founded by a poor carpenter, might not have the strongest morals and ethics?  I am shocked, sir.

How does that old political saying go?  "When a [Liberal] gets caught cheating they hope she was of age.  When a [conservative] gets caught cheating they hope it was with a girl." ?

that NPR series on the mega churches and taxes was a good eye opener to how it is a lot more than just a collection plate for someone to live large. They detailed 5 churches and excesses taken, rolls royce seemed like a popular vehicle in this circle.

or the church decided to distract from the systematic raping of children with the systematic use of donations to support the lavish lifestyles of those allegedly sworn to poverty in the service of the lord.

More like in the middle, maybe homosexual:  'We have confirmed that Coy has admitted to at least two affairs in the past year alone and has had a long standing "problem with pornography,' though the church has not elaborated on what Coy's moral failings were.

Nothing in it indicates that the affairs were straight or the age of the people in the porn.

Technically it doesn't mention kids or mansex.

It could be he just banged so many whores and had so much porn everyone went, "damn, that's too much porn."

So cynical with your "invisible product" crap.  If you truly believe, it's very tangible.  As in a $20 worth of tangible for a prayer cloth that costs you less than a buck each in bulk (slightly more for personalization).

And once they have it, you gotta remind them the more prayer cloths they have, the louder their voice with the Big Man.

It was where her husband was going, he grew up in a different country where Christians were in the minority and thus wasn't attuned to picking up American megachurch red flags. They left after she told him she thought something was up with the pastor.

Meh.

Problem with pornography?  I don't know anyone who has a pornography problem any more.  Used to be you had to go to some seedy joint where dudes where wacking it in the booth next to you.  Now you can get that sheit on your EYEpad if you want.

I was raised Catholic (I'm not a churchy person, so I left it behind long ago), so I'm non plussed by some mega church pastor looking at big boobed MILFS on the inter-TUBES.  We were all busy trying to keep Father Bangyergroin from stealing the Brown Cheerio when I was a wee lad...
