Wow, some good stuff on there. Although, I never got, and still don't get Hootie and the Blowfish. To me, they are decidedly "meh".

Even the rap/r&b stuff wasn't too bad.

They were a scourge of the 1990s and caused me much irrational hatred. Those guys and the theme song from Friends are parts of the 90s that created a sort of panicked Pavlovian reaction in me and I immediately forget everything I am doing and focus only on making that noise go away. The feeling is as strong now as it was then.

By the way, subby, I don't get depressed when I find out something is 20 years old. I never expected to live this long so I'm quite gleeful about it. Every time one of my high school classmates dies, I check another one off the list, hehe.

When I go out to get lunch at work a lot of the restaurants play this very same music. At first I thought, "Wow, these are some hip places!" Then I realized they are playing inoffensive "oldies" for a broad customer base.

It was Hootie's voice. I still don't know how that dude hasn't made a billion dollars.

Bravo Peter you win this thread. Subby however can diaf for making me feel old.

That was a good year for music.  It also reminded me that Weezer's Buddy Holly video was included nonchalantly buried in a folder in the Windows 95 install CD.  It also inclued Edie Brickell's Good Times, which is also a good song.  Edie Brickell also looks a lot like Ally Sheedy.

Would you like to see Will Smith, Alfonso Rebeiro, Heather Graham, Graham Norton, Jayden Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and some Mediterranean looking dude doing the Carlton last year?  Of course you would.

To be fair, a lot of Miami football fans have that same problem.

Thanks subby. Now I have that damned Crystal Waters song stuck in my head.

I wouldn't call NiN "Closer" a family dining experience however.

Darius Rucker has an amazing voice. I like his country albums. I've seen him twice in concert. His cover of Purple Rain that he did as an encore was outstanding.

I get it, but I've never gotten why they (along with Alanis Morrissette and Shania Twain) were absolutely huge. I can buy boybands being that big, but Meh releases in fairly Meh genres?

That was also a good year for concerts. I saw a ton of great shows that year. Pink Floyd, the Stones, Smashing Pumpkins, Prong, Tool, Soundgarden, Pantera....just to name a few. Ah good times.

They were a Louisiana band on the sound track of Half Baked.  They had a small hit with New Age Girl.

Mary Moon... she's a vegetarian (Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Mary Moon)
Mary Moon... will outlive all the septuagenarians (Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Mary Moon)

She don't eat meat
But she sure like the bone

Yeah, I know, how did people survive w/o Nickleback, Jonas Brothers, Ke$ha or Miley Cyrus.

Meh. Other than songs by Springsteen & REM (both really 70s-80s performers) I don't see any music in that list.

2014-04-06 01:54:08 PM
Before Windows 95 even. Yeah, no, nothing's happened since then.
To make your memories of the early nineties moot.
To make your pathetic, decrepit expressions of the Clinton years anything but sad and irrelevant.
Bieber is now your God.
Bow down.
Bow down before Bieber.

That is how I feel about DMB. "What would you say" makes me want to claws my ears off.

I dated a girl in 1994 who LOVED them. She became a born-again Christian and refuses to speak to me anymore, much like most of my ex-girlfriends. So yes, they were real.

DMB individually are great musicians. But when they Voltron, they form the blazing sword of ugh.
