Because Mr. T's Mother forbade it, that's why.

I think because it deals with the guy's long-term geekdom (detail-oriented) and he's essentially behind the scenes doing something impressive, like many geeks who make (big) good.

Maybe because it's about video editing?

Pretty interesting article, actually. The WWE folks really do turn out some very slick packages.

I thought it was still all scripted?  Not like I watch WWE, I'd rather watch a "sport" where the outcome is uncertain.  And I don't like the idea of having a team of professional propagandists telling their audience how they should feel about their scripted stunt expos.

With the moves they do and the danger involved, you really couldn't do anything completely unscripted. Some wrestlers will talk a match out beforehand, coming up with a general script for them to improv with, and some will do it on the fly by whispering to each other, etc.

I think the best thing the WWE could do would be to acknowledge that it's scripted, letting them play around with gimmicks and characters, and then flip a coin or something backstage before each match to see where it's going to go. None of this "every match on an episode of RAW ending in d/q because someone ran in" nonsense.

He's actually still doing it on a street corner outside the arena. He hasn't mentioned WWE yet.

Really? I didn't know that because I have been living in a cave on Mars for the past 50 years with my eyes shut and my hands covering my ears.

Do you watch any tv show that is not scripted? I can't think of any other than sports

If you saw last night's hall of fame ceremony, you'll know why.

Mr. T really loves his mother.

Yes, when someone clearly didn't see something to which you are referencing, the point is not to explain it, possibly provide a link, but to ridicule them for not having seen the thing they aren't understanding.

FirstNationalBastard:

Well, not everything.  Obviously you can kind of get a feel for how the game might come out based on the two participants, otherwise bookies wouldn't exist.

But do bookies even take bets on both sides of a WWE match?  Non-psychotic ones, that is?

And yeah, as crazy and/or dangerous as it would be to have a stunt expo without a script and specific practice, they pretty much have to have a script these days.  I object to them doing exactly what the people in TFA are doing, pretending that the matches had any chance of being fair and playing up the emotions of "victories" and "losses" as if they weren't pre-decided.

That kind of trash TV just doesn't interest me at all.  I'm surprised it interests anyone, but easily led people will be easily led by something, so WWE might as well be the thing they spend money on.  Doesn't hurt anything, leaves them with less money for beer, smokes and drugs, so it might help.

I wish they handed out free condoms at the matches though.
