It is stuff like this which makes me think Japan is just trying to prove they can eat stuff that would make a vulture puke up in disgust.

I'm saving my appetite for the bag of cantaloupe flavored bacon BBQ kettle chips that I have stashed behind the couch cushion.

I'd eat that before the headline food, but I like cantaloupe.

Just because you can mix certain things doesn't mean you should.

Meh. Shrimp chips are pretty bland, I doubt much of the flavor comes through.

The gustatory equivalent of hentai tentacle rape porn mangas. At $8 a bag how many kilos come per bag and can you use it as a sleeping bag when you're done?

If the chips are made of seaweed and looks like Godzilla raped the ocean, I'll try a bag.

The one time I had shrimp chips, I thought they were horrible.

Although they were from a mall food court, so maybe that had something to do with it.  I never noticed them on the menu at an actual Japanese restaurant - no matter how inauthentic the "Japanese" food they serve in Japanese restaurants in the US may be.

Are they actually not horrible if done well?

Because I love shrimp, but even good things can be turned into bad.

On the one hand, it seems strange to mix fruit and chocolate and seafood and whatever paste reconstitution product they use to make the "chip" part.

On the other hand, for breakfast I had a bowl of wasabi peas and a delightful beverage made of rum, vodka, gin, tequila, and triple sec, and if all of those unnatural ingredients can go together to make something good, then I'll try those peanut butter french fries or whatever the hell they are selling.

When my wife was pregnant she didn't want weird-ass combinations of shrimp shiat, she just wanted hamburgers with plenty of pickles and entire bags of green beans at a time.

I don't always eat sweet crunchy Japanese seafood but when I do, I fry up some axolotl.

I remember a Kitchen Nightmares were the restaurant had a strawberry and shrimp salad or something, and Ramsey made a smoothie out of it and had the chefs take it, they all thought it was disgusting.

But I could possible see chocolate being the great balance maker, as we chocolate goes well with strawberry, then the shrimp flavor offers a salty/savoriness that could possible enhance it. I'm not completely sold, I just think there is a possibility that it's not terrible.

But even if it is, if I've learned one thing in my five plus years in the restaurant biz, it's there are idiots with no palette that will eat and enjoy anything.

/other day I had a person order a tuna roll with avocado, cream cheese, mayo, and she wanted it deep fried.
//way back when I worked at Subway, we use to get a guy who would order a meatball with alternating scoops of the seafood salad.

Similar to this, we recently had a cod dish with chocolate and strawberries at a sushi restaurant here in Chicago that was surprisingly good... everything else had been so good, we decided to give it a go. At worst, it'd be a story... but actually worked very well --  similar to a Mexican mole´ dish -- and we'd definitely order again.

No palette?  How do they paint or store things in a warehouse?
