I'm confused... why should I be scared if Bryan Cranston shows up at the beach? Will he be wearing Speedos?

I'm surprised they showed so much of Godzilla. Probably to show that he's not an iguana like that farking 1998 movie.

I'm trying to think of when the dog doesn't survive in a disaster-style movie. I mean that would piss off far more people than if we see a tidal wave wipe out a mom with a baby stroller.

I kinda like the GINOZilla's look just as a big friggin monster, but yeah, this looks a lot better.

Maybe it's because I never really had the older Godzilla movies ingrained into my psyche, but I have to say...I liked, and still like, the '98 movie.

I'm the same way with the Transformers movies, according to my brother-in-law. He prefers the '86 movie, and I like Bay's movies. When we were discussing the Robocop remake earlier this year, he told me, "You know how much you don't like the new movie compared to the old one? Now you see how I feel about Transformers."

/can't farking wait for this movie
//and I still can't figure out why I keep seeing Gareth Evans when I see Gareth Edwards' name
///where the hell is The Raid 2 playing anyway?

I for one think that Godzilla will be very well-received. In fact, the only thing it has going against it is the 1998 Roland Emmerich film, which, for some stupid reason, was called Godzilla. Godzilla was not an iguana. Who in fark's name thought that completely changing the main character's look would be a neat-o idea? It's like remaking King Kong with a giant rhesus monkey instead of a giant gorilla. Same species does not equal same character.

Anyway, anyone who saw Gareth Edwards last film, Monsters, knows he was the perfect choice to direct Godzilla. The original Gojira film was filled with a palpable sense of horror and dread that helped to make it so memorable. It looks like he has put that same feeling into this film, though he seems to be adding a significant amount of action film spectacle to suit our more modern expectations. The cast looks solid, and I am looking forward to seeing how much gravitas Cranston can bring to his role.

Should be one hell of a ride!

My daughter loves godzilla...absolutely loves it.  However she saw the trailer for this one before captain America and now doesn't want to see it because she said it looks a little too scary.   Hopefully she will change her mind.

After seeing the reaction of the audience for this movie I'm not too sure how popular it will be.  The theater I was in did not really have a reaction to he trailer...nothing compared to the reaction to the GotG trailer.

I'm not a huge Godzilla fan, I didn't even really care that it looked like an iguana. It was just so campy. I know we're talking about a movie about a giant lizard stomping through New York but the dialog and acting was just so over the top stupid and cheesy. I didn't expect it to be super dramatic like this one appears to be but Godzilla '98 made Independence Day look like Saving Private Ryan.

And of course the CGI was dodgy so it had to be raining and/or nighttime the entire film. It looked like Blade Runner with a lizard.

In retrospect to me the funniest part of the '98  disappointment was that the promotional campaign for it included the tag line "size matters"

If in the final scene Bryan Cranston shaves his head before flying the plane carrying The Bomb into Godzilla's mouth, they can just shut down Hollywood for good.

But you were at a marvel movie so people were obviously going to lose there shiat for another marvel movie.

I'm hoping they don't make this into a 'humanity comes together' sorta thing. All I wanna see is Godzilla and the other possible kaijus knocking over buildings, eating people, and the lamentations of the survivors amongst the smoking, burning ruins! And maybe taking a giant radioactive dump along the way, then wailing on his guitar, singing in a shrieking Rob Halford voice, drinking beers and knocking over buildings with his ding dong. All topped off with a ear-shattering fart.

Damn, I should write the next Godzilla, or the next Cloverfield since JJ Abrahms says that likely will never get made.

After hearing a dude I know talk about the Mexico City earthquake in 1985, I would definitely choose drowning over dying in a collapsed building. There were people in his apartment that were single, double, and even triple dismembered by falling building pieces and bled out before they could be rescued...if being rescued was even the preferable outcome after losing both legs and a hand, for example.

Real life has taught me that is not true at all. Most tall buildings in modern cities have some sort of locking device or key required to go up floors, you know.

I recall Puffy saying he was "inspired" after he fell asleep with the TV on and woke up to a TV advert for a Zeppelin box set with Kashmir playing, which he apparently had never heard before 1998.
