I know we have the reputation for being overly polite, and I humbly request the opportunity to augment this perception if you would be so obliging.

Canadian police wont fark with you, if you do not fark with them. I consider them the best in the world with regards to this particular attitude.

HOWEVER

That WILL not tolerate BS. If you mess with them, they will throw you in prison before you hit the ground. DO NOT MESS WITH THEM, they will not hesitate when the moment comes and they are well trained, mostly fit (not donut suckers) and armed in accordance of their needs. As a side note, they are not our only resource for this... other Canadian citizens will do the same to you. We are polite if you behave, we do not tolerate BS either.

You know how us Canadians tell who the real moron Americans are? They're the ones using tired old 80's movie slang to refer to us. It's a simple intelligence test. Whenever someone uses "eh", I KNOW they're stupid.

On a related note, I thought after Rob Ford, you Americans would think we were more like "y'all", but I can see your tradition of turning your nose up at the rest of the world while being a universally hated and pathetic joke is still going strong!

"how about a "C" eh?"
"how about an  "N"eh?
"how about a "D" eh?

I thought it was a joke until I took a Canadian customer from Edmonton out for dinner, he said it all the time. Also everything I need to know about Canada is in this song.

Eh is mostly a Western Canada thing, in my experience anyway.

BATMANATEE:  Eh is mostly a Western Canada thing, in my experience anyway.

I grew up in the small towns of northern Ontario, and it was just second nature.  I find myself saying it far more than other people on the West coast, where I live now.  But it's not like it's every second word like in bad movies.  It only occurs in the same part of speech where Americans say "huh".

I drop ehs all the damn time. I don't know why some of my fellow Canadians get all uptight over the idea that we have accents and little speech quirks unless they really yearn to be as bland as possible. I also enjoy beer, hockey, flannel, donuts, and canoes. Deal with it stereotype hating Canadians.

I don't mind being stereotyped, but come up with some new ones, ffs!!!
"Eh" and "hoser" was the early 80's, man. Get over it!
Btw none of those things you mentioned is really distinctly Canadian....beer? Donuts? Really?

Maybe not distinctly Canadian but it fits the stereotype and I don't have a problem with it.
