Holy shiat. He was basically a turnip two weeks ago.

The real question is whether he's ever going to drive again.

Should have known better than to ski like that, guilty feet have got no rhythm.

More great science from the article:

Investigators probing the accident said Schumacher had been going at the speed of "a very good skier" at the time of his crash in the resort of Meribel.

The Stig was unavailable for comment.

Moments of consciousness doesn't mean a whole lot.  It doesn't mean he is communicating or lucid.  It means he got upgraded from turnip to potato.

Yeah. His wife is building a $10m 'hospital extension' on their house so that they can keep him in the coma there. He'll probably never fully awake again.

Steigen: Pfft, the Stig doesn't know how to ski

He was in the Mini.

Ever since he stopped racing he's not had a lot of luck related to sports.  Apparently during his first retirement he injured his neck motorcycle racing.  He really should have taken that as a hint.  If it doesn't have 4 wheels, he apparently isn't meant to be using it.

He's not the Stig. He's the Stig's Alpine cousin!

"A very good skier" is a perfectly cromulant measure of speed.

So does that translate into third or fourth gear in motorsports talk?

I figured it meant he's not dying of this brain injury, there's no plug for the family to pull, they just have to watch things unfold. .  He may die of complications later, but that's later.  It doesn't mean he'll live in any real sense of that word.
