Manson murders were in August 1969.

Fest turned douchey before SXSW did.

I saw Kasabian a couple years back and they OWNED. Every person in the venue from the stage to the board was moving the entire show. And this was in San Francisco wherw aggressive disinterest is de rigeur.

I don't know what a Kasabian is. Does that make me cool or uncool?

I went to see Kasabian once, and they didn't show up.

Haven't we seen enough of Bruce Jenner and her awful family?

Had to go look them up... recognized the name. I realized I had heard them perform "Days are forgotten" on one of the late night shows and thought it was ok.

Meh

I really liked "Club Foot" (and I have to thank whoever did the music for the UK version of Being Human for introducing it to me) but I've really never been taken with anything else they've done.

Do they have a new album coming out?

Dwight_Yeast: Do they have a new album coming out?

Nope.  That's reason #1 in the article slideshow.

Sad but true. Loved going in the 90s -- saw Johnny Cash and Television and the Velvets and Radiohead and bands like the Ozric Tentacles were still allowed to be psychedelic on the the main stage... But then the fences went up, to keep the hippies out. Within 10 years it had become the sort of place Tory MPs, supermodels and footballers wanted to be seen at, and to which Guardian readers aspire as a slightly hipper version of Glyndebourne.

I last went in the mid-2000s and -- well, just looking at the sheer amount of discarded tents, chairs and litter on the Monday morning told you everything you needed to know about the mentality of the people. Never going back.

Also, Kasabian are rubbish.

She was still Linda Kasabian in 1968

But no one had ever heard of her until the aftermath of the murders.....which is kind of the point of why it would be 'news' as mentioned your original post, yes?

All the major fests seem to be losing traction. Even the Coachella lineup looks sorta meh. Possibly the worst Lolla lineup ever.

2014-04-04 01:46:31 PM
I love em.

Looking at the Glastonbury lineup, I'm surprised to see Alt J isn't on it.  They're a UK band I'd like to see live.

2014-04-04 01:55:22 PM
Ah... never mind the above.  I see they were there last year.

2014-04-04 01:55:49 PM
Ahh, kasabian. Top Gear UK's official soundtrack, it seems..

Lola's lineup doesn't bode well for ACL this year...Thank Buddha, Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms, and Isadora Duncan for Psych Fest!

Dat dere is a Kasabian mis-identified.

I thought Kasabian was still locked up in Sandman Slim's closet.

Not the what, but DEFINITELY the who.

\sorry, stopped listening to WBRU at least ten years ago
\\it'd be nice if there was a band out today that made me go, "they're gonna influence EVERYBODY"
\\\but I'm not seeing it

Kasabian is a fine band.

A Glastonbury headliner? No.

/from a fan

to be fair, it's Sunday night which out of the three headlining slots is the least prestigious - by then, everyone just wants to fark off home. If they were headlining Saturday, then yeah, there's no way they're big enough to do it

I'd much rather see Crosby, Stills and Krenwinkle

Surprised they would be invited after Kanye West knocked her up

2014-04-05 12:50:08 PM
They're not exactly the U2/Beyonce/Rolling Stones level headliner they've had in years past, but Kasabian is a fantastic band. Really surprised they haven't broken in the US. Saw them at Coachella a few years back and they tore the roof off the Mojave stage.
