its pretty easy to just make your own pizza. most groceries stores sell fresh dough, and otherwise its just canned sauce, pepperoni and shredded cheese for a basic one

Meh.  It's been the same for years.  It's never been all that good.  Your tastes have simply changed.

I've always liked Stouffer's French bread pizza.

jaylectricity: Celeste nullifies the validity of that list.

These weren't the 11 best frozen pizzas. These apparently were all 11 frozen pizzas the testers found in the store and they ranked them from best to worst. They didn't like the Celeste pizza at all.

Under the circumstances it's #9 out of 11 ranking seems appropriate.

If I'm going to eat a frozen pizza, it's because I want something that isn't trying to resemble a real pizza. I want something extra crappy, but delicious, like a Totino's Party Pizza with that weird sausage dust:

When you live in a college town, there's no excuse for eating frozen pizza.

Pizza, because shoveling diced bacon straight down your gaping maw with a grain funnel is too refined for you.

Idiocracy is coming, and people who eat pizza are proof of the process.

What next, a noid shaped like a ferris wheel that plays the theme from "Bride of Chucky"?

DontMakeMeComeBackThere: 1. Stouffer's French Bread pizza not on the list, really?

2. The only way Celeste shows up on a list of the 11 best frozen pizzas is if there are only 11 kinds of frozen pizza.

In truth, the article's not the 11 best pizzas, just 11 random pizzas they tried and ranked.

And ranking Ellio's midpack? Some years ago they intentionally made their recipe bland to appeal to small children.

A DiGiorno or Freschetta cheese pizza, doctored up (onion, sliced tomato, bell pepper, sliced green olive, dabs of pesto, extra parmesan and/or mozzarella) is quick and not half bad.  No, it's not as good as at the pizza joint, but it doesn't involve getting in the car or waiting for the delivery guy.

Every pizza I've ever seen in that kind of packaging--including the one I bought at ShopRite less than an hour ago--was just refrigerated.

The world has gone pizza crazy.  I've had pizza almost every day for over a week because every body and their brother keeps serving/catering with it.  Today is no exception.  Repo Graphics guy had a kid -- pizza party.  Clients up on 3 bought everyone pizza so now there's a dozen extra boxes of pappa Johns.   Fark you pizza.

The Kirkland Cheese Pizzas at Costco are damn good for frozen pizza.  Top them with whatever you want.

However, they are not good reheated so make sure you finish it off round one.

I don't know about where you live, but TJ's is just my neighborhood's local grocery option, no more hipster than anything else, just not as run down as the Von's down the street and pretty cheap for the stuff I get.

Red Baron is the best frozen pizza currently out there, IMHO... but when I was a kid, maybe about 25 or 30 years ago, I used to LOVE Chef Boyardee frozen pizzas... They were small and there were eight in a box, two blocks of four each... I'd break off two after school for a snack, and they were SO good... Long gone, the only Chef Boyardee pizza I can find now is the make-your-own pizza kits and they are not nearly as good... sigh...

TerminalEchoes: jaylectricity: Celeste nullifies the validity of that list.

Seconded.

Thirded.  Totino's Party Pizzas are miles better than Celeste "pizzas", and Totino's are what I would call the low end of the edibility spectrum of pizza.  They are, however, the pizza most improved by being cooked on a Presto Pizzaz (or similar rotating pizza cooker device).

I did like that the testers pointed out that the sauce on Tombstone pizzas left them wanting.  That's my entire problem with Tombstone pizzas, but it's worse than just the sauce leaving me wanting: the sauce actually scares me.  You know how you can pour things on frozen pizzas before cooking to change the flavor a bit, like hot sauce?  Usually that flavor sinks into the pizza sauce, but now with Tombstone pizzas.  That pizza sauce is some kind of water-repulsing substance; NOTHING soaks into it.  Instead of the sauce tasting different, you taste the hot sauce, THEN the original pizza sauce separately.  And the pizza sauce is farking gross.

Oh yes, the list fails without this:

smalltownfoodsnobs.files.wordpress.com

Admittedly you have to have a Costco card to get them, but these things are among the tastiest frozen pizzas I've ever had.  I've had better - just about anything with rising crust will beat them - but they're the king of non-rising crust pizzas.

Also, if you happen to be in an area that has a Kroger-brand store (which is damn near the whole country):

s3.amazonaws.com

Way better than DiGiorno if you ask me.  And several bucks cheaper.

DiGorno's are surprisingly good - their thin crust is especially good.

But I will admit...once in a while...my inner 8 year old demands....and gets...a cheapo totino's hamburger.  My tastebuds are happy for abut 3 minutes...and my stomach is pissed for 3 hours.

If you are going for convenience:

Package of pizza crusts
Bottle of spaghetti sauce
Block of mozzarella
Red pepper flakes
Shaker of parmesan
Cook at 550F for 5 to 10 min until cheese is sufficiently bubbly and toasted at the edges/tops

Still only moderate on the overall pizza scale, but way better than any frozen and still only takes a minute of busy time.  I keep the crusts frozen (no need to thaw) and usually have a bottle of sauce in the fridge anyways, so the only real expirable is the cheese.

I love their pep and sausage. The pre-melted cheese is actually a good idea. It's very tasty and the crust comes out crispy.

I buy this one, then jazz it up with artichokes, blue cheese and more mozz. It's awesome.

I get the Ultra Thin Crust Pepperoni. You can't beat it for $5. They don't skimp on the toppings. It just tends to make a little mess in my oven.
