Seems silly to lose all that information by this archaic method of "court recording". Why not just record the proceedings with audio and video? If someone wants a transcript, it can be generated after the fact as needed.

Plant Rights Activist: can't believe this job isn't automated yet.  How hard is it to get decent speech to text software.


I am sure it is more complicated than that. There are parts they are called to omit. Also, a human is self correcting while a speech recognition program is not.
