I haven't seen the movie and I've given up reading WorldNet Daily for personal health reasons, so all I can say is: you should stop reading WorldNet Daily, people.

Weaver95: Um, but the OT god really was a ruthless sadistic son of a biatch....

That explains a lot about His unpopularity back then.  Then He got lucky and had a rock star son that could spackle over the nasty bits.  Whom he also treated like shiat, of course.

You mean two Jews wouldn't write a movie about the Old Testament that panders to Evangelical Christians? That's truly surprising.

For centuries, American monks, Russian soldiers, German scientists, an English politician, an American astronaut and a "Baywatch" star have looked for it.

And what have they found?

This I don't get. You can't have a "loving" God without the opposite emotion, hate. Does God hate some people, love others? Does God get bored? Sullen? Petty? Sad? Ecstatic?

According to Calvinists...yes. Yes he does.

The story of Noah makes God out to be a dick, but that's nothing compared to the story of Abraham and Isaac.

Yeah, not vengeful at all.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure wrathful is the correct adjective for that story.

So what, exactly, did "Noah," Darren Aronofsky big-budget epic that swam into theaters last weekend with a $43 million opening, get correct in its depiction of the biblical story?

Not much, according to an expert on the Old Testament and author of the new book  "Noah: The Real Story."

I think I see the real reason they have a problem with the movie.

We went and saw this film last night.

Don't.

It is long long long long long.

That being said, they actually didn't do too badly at grabbing Genesis and Enoch and making them into a film. I mean, it's fantastical, but not bad in that regard.

And the film itself did actually perform a miracle: we went in at 7:30 PM, watched half an hour of a cool sword and sandals and sorcery epic, and then SIX SOLID HOURS of Jennifer Connely and Emma Watson crying and screaming and then screaming while crying, followed by no less than two hours of endings that make Return Of The King look abrupt by comparison, and then another two hours of soulful looks and weeping... and after that combined nearly-eleven-hours of watching the film, we emerged at quarter after Ten.

Yeah, that's right, the film folded TIME ITSELF.

"Noah: The Real Story" includes everything you wanted to know about Noah, the Flood, the animals, the Ark and even the search for the Ark today.

Didn't they find it in the first "Raiders of the Lost Ark" movie?

God in the OT was like a little kid.  Build up your playset, and then smash it to bits.  The other kids weren't playing along with my game and letting me win, so I'm gonna hit them. Etc.

Yeah, that happens when you mock a prophet for telling people about his predecessor being whisked away by a chariot of fire AND pointing out his physical shortcomings.

The opposite of love is not hate.

The opposite of love is indifference and apathy.

Hate and love are very close to one another, to be honest.  Both are passions, just with different motivations.

Apathy, on the other hand, is the very opposite of love.

I guess the guys at WND aren't too familiar with the Bible, which literally says that God is "jealous and vengeful" (Nahun 1:2).

Stone's book covers everything from the science of the Ark and Flood, to how Noah gathered and took care of the animals to where the Ark might be today.

Oooh, his might be fun to find on a torrent download somewhere. I'd love to hear the "science" of how two of every animal on the earth(Minus the unicorn) was crammed onto a boat, fed and watered, kept clean and in line for at the very least, 40 days and nights. None of these animals developed sores from laying around , none stampeded, none ate the others. Apparently none died, and no birth defects developed from inbreeding.

Bring on the "science".

Go ahead, Sock it to Me!!

I'm confused

If you want to be all aflutter with Christian Outrage, and you want to know how close the movie was to the book... shouldn't you just read the book?

I mean the whole Noah story is like 4 chapters in Genesis, you could probably fit the whole thing on a single sheet of paper if you went 10 point and single spaced...

So why do followers of this religion need to be told whether the film got it right?

Sure you can.  That's like saying you can't have a loving parent because that means they've got to hate some of their kids.

However, the portrait of God in the Old Testament is certainly not a loving God.
