I feel bad for my fellow humans enslaved by such an evil government.

I do however have an idea of how to end it:

Grant military officers who instigate a revolution immunity from all crimes personally committed by both international and South Korean courts

They know they live in an evil empire. It is a self perpetuating situation. These people know that they will be severely punished so they keep doing what they do to ensure that they won't be punished. Dangle that carrot and I guarantee you the NK government won't last a month.

Whatever. The moment that Un decides to expand his border or do something that looks like defiance of Obama FoxNews will be slobbing his knob just as furiously as they've done with Putin.

All told, what North Koreans AREN'T in a forced labor concentration camp besides Fatso and Dennis Rodman by now?

There's an irony that no one has thought about yet: What if Un defies the UN?

The paper reported that those condemned to be executed would be given their death sentences following closed-door trials that have been authorized by North Korea's highest court, the better to give the appearance that proper procedure has been followed.

See? They're following proper procedure and not just doing some crazy-ass shiat.

There will always be those who are slavishly devoted to the status quo. What you're suggesting would result in a civil war at the upper echelons of NK society, and the paranoid Powers-That-Be would only need to *THINK* it might be an SK operation before the shelling begins.

Once the Kim family realizes they'll be out of power, they will take everyone down with them.

"closed-door trials", and executions being "witnessed" by specific members of the party, not public.
It would not surprise me at all if the people here were simply leaving North Korea, and the trial/dead thing is just a cover for them.

The ones who keep their mouths shut, cried for dear leader's death in public, and do whatever they're told.  Oh and also don't have any relatives or neighbors who's done anything remotely resembling being against the government.  Or looking at someone funny.  Or whatever.  I guess I don't know.

I posted this before but it sadly is still as relevant.

Watch Camp 14 - Total Control Zone on YouTube. The link I used to have is dead now, apparently the videos get taken down on copyright claims after a while, but you can usually find a live one on any given moment. Right now, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRf63Q-0EBU  seems to work.

A movie based on "Escape from Camp 14," the book about Shin Dong-hyuk who escaped from a North Korean prison camp. They also interviewed two former prison guards who defected to the south. You'll need a pretty tough stomach for this one. It's slow moving at times when they just keep the camera rolling while the guy tries to think of what to say next. Very well worth watching nonetheless.

Yes but does it have staying power or is it too 'in the moment'?  Probably has staying power.

Who are we to judge other cultures?  Maybe this is the system that works best for North Koreans.  This is obviously the system they wanted.  We can't impose democracy on them.  Just because democracy works for Americans, doesn't mean it could possibly work on the Korean peninsula.  Removing Kim Jong-Un and replacing his government with a democratic government would just do harm to North Koreans.

I know. The only people who died in my history books were Americans. The "enemy" has always been painted as an evil cartoon character who was looking to conquer and then destroy the Earth.

Fox got this "news" article off of some ultra-rightwing Korea/socialist/communist-hater website, which got it from a blogger in Russia, who pulled it out of his ass. None of the reputable news services are carrying it.

ds615: "closed-door trials", and executions being "witnessed" by specific members of the party, not public.
It would not surprise me at all if the people here were simply leaving North Korea, and the trial/dead thing is just a cover for them.

Now why would they do that?  Who would really just let 200 some-odd high ranking government and party officials just walk out the back door and trust that nobody is going to track even one of them down - no intelligence agency, no book publisher, no Hollywood executive, no angry South Korean widower?  Nobody?

It's so much easier to just put a bullet in all of their heads.  And besides, the North Koreans know that if you want to instill fear and quell dissent, it is better to erase your opponents from history completely than to put on some kind of public show of force.  This is Stalinism 101.

I can't tell if you're a troll or an idiot (or both). So, I'll just say that democracy is already working on the Korean peninsula. Ever heard of South Korea?

Well, I guess that confirms it. Kim Jong Un is SUCH a sociopath his uncle probably was conspiring against him.

This will not end well.

Inciting officers to overthrow their government is essentially a declaration of war. Attempting your plan could kill a WHOLE LOT of people when missiles start flying.
