The guys trying to buy America are concerned about collectivism?

2014-04-03 12:05:00 PM
Oh, good. Keep talking, Koch. You'll kill the GOP's chances in November and 2016 all at once.

2014-04-03 12:10:22 PM
jeez, you call a guy un-american for trying to buy elections and suddenly you're a communist? pfft, at least the un-american accusation is accurate.

2014-04-03 12:21:45 PM
F*ck you.

This hard working job creator went easy on you libs.  You're all Commie-Nazis in my eye.

HA HA HA OH WOW

He's probably just a poor tortured soul that didn't get enough hugs as a kid.

Feel bad for him. He deserves our pity ...

2014-04-03 12:44:06 PM
I read the Koch piece this morning. . .and the rhetoric was strikingly similar to shiat I read on a daily basis.  Almost like political forum posters were being paid to say on message.

2014-04-03 12:47:27 PM
Here's some free and open debate: f*ck you motherf*cker. I hope you and your brother get ass cancer.

Oh go suck a koch...

I believe that cronyism is nothing more than welfare for the rich and powerful, and should be abolished.

So that's why you spend many times more what an average Republican (or even a state's worth of them) could afford to donate to an election campaign? Because you don't want anything in return?

Do me a favor - go sit inside a golden bull while we stack some cordwood outside. It'll only take a sec, promise.

// also, how much Federal cheese did Koch Industries, and ALLLLLLL its billions and billions of subsidiaries, get in 2013 alone, Charly?

2014-04-03 12:49:45 PM
He's using the same rhetoric that his daddy did in the 1950s when he subsidized the John Birch Society.

What would you know about suffering, Mr. Koch? You've lived in the .01% world your entire life. You're surrounded by obsequiousness and luxury. You have no idea how the health care system even functions. You buy influence and destroy lives and resouces just to increase your pot of gold. You have no ideology other than greed and the warped meth-fueled ideas of Ayn Rand.

2014-04-03 12:50:28 PM
I've never seen such a poor downtrodden billionaire in my life.  The poor guy is just trying to squash all hopes of American middle class security and remove all help for the less fortunate, and he's vilified for his efforts.

Right. A guy born into billions is the face of the conservative idea that hard work and pluck are all you need to make it in this country.

If there's anyone who knows how to do business with Communists, it's the Koch family.

Joe Stalin's eBay feedback like "Wonderful doing business with these guys. We so understand each other." mysteriously disappeared from the web site in the 30's but were sighted once or twice in Siberia.

Said while engaging in character assassination.

Do you mean like running a series of ads about how Obamacare will destroy America and backing up those claims with a massive series of smears and lies?

From TFA: "Rather than try to understand my vision for a free society or accurately report the facts about Koch Industries, our critics would have you believe we're "un-American" and trying to "rig the system,"

Awww shiat.  He's got a "vision."

It's one thing when you've got an asshole billionaire unabashedly dumping money into political groups out of self interest.  It's another thing when an asshole billionaire wakes up one morning and decides he's going to be the one to usher in the Randian utopia.

We don't promise heaven, you smug out-of-touch rich asshole, we just don't want the entire shebang to fall under the control of one (or two) smug out-of-touch rich assholes.

At least he didn't say he was being persecuted worse than the Jews were in Nazi Germany like the other billionaire did.

It's just SO annoying when poor people get uppity ya know? And having to actually pretend that the poors are equal?! Such a bother.

It's OK, if you buy Republicans.

Well, in his defense, the US is such a right-wing country overall that his detractors ARE virtually communists by comparison.

Not surprising, one of the richest conservatives would project the hardest on everyone else.

No, and it's also nothing like inventing a political organization from scratch out of pure cash and claiming it's a straight-talking grassroots association standing up for the little guy.

I was hoping for something insightful, given that Koch is one of the people currently driving the conservative ideological bus. That read like the laziest parroting of some of the lamest FOX talking points. Saul Alinsky, ACA rollout, Government bad, corporations good, blah blah blah.

/very disappointed

It's funny that that Charles Koch guy has a problem with communism.  I don't think I've ever heard him complain about the fact that his fortune came courtesy of Joseph Stalin

I keep thinking maybe he'll renounce and give away his ill-gotten gains but he never seems to get around to it...

So was I. Seems like it really puts the lie to rich people being smarter than the rest of us, as Charly sounds like your average teabagger.

That's actually not true. People just think they are more conservative than they actually are.

Conservatives lack insight, that's why they're conservatives.

Yes, the guy spending billions of dollars of blood money to buy favorable status under the law is clearly the victim here.

/I hope people realize the irony of those "American Encore" ads.

Fun fact: Charles Koch's father was a founding member of the John Birch Society.

I'm sure he would rather get those favorable status for free. Or be paid to have said favorable status.

Blues_X: I wonder if he believes his own bullsh*t.

Probably. Nobody ever sees themselves as the villain of their own life story. And being rich doesn't mean you can't get sucked into a reality bubble, in fact usually people at the top end up in a bubble anyway.

"I believe that cronyism is nothing more than welfare for the rich and powerful, and should be abolished."

I would be sincerely curious what specific actions they have taken or supported to make this happen.
