With marijuana, the idea is to get so high that you don't know who or what you are. There is no such thing as a quickie or one to be sociable. In pot-smoking circles if you're not flying you're a square. And "flying" means you don't know who you are or what you're doing. Son, no matter how you slice that, that's dangerous.

We should ban all liquids before a spill results in slip leading to a deadly fall. Ice should also be outlawed, since it is a precursor to a liquid.

If I didn't know better I'd say the media gets off on saying "Marijuana linked death." Almost like they are trying to sensationalize a story that ostensibly has everything to do with a kid being a dumbass on spring break, and nothing to do with marijuana...nah, that can't be true.

Marajuana is the flame, heroin is the fuse, LSD is the bomb. So don't you try to equate liquor to marajuana, Mister, not with me. You may be able to sell that jazz to another pothead, but not to somebody who holds some sick kid's head while he vomits and wretches on a curbstone at 4:00 in the morning. And when his legs get enough starch into them so he can stand up and empty his pockets, you can bet he'll have a stick or two of marajuana. And you can double your money he'll turn up a sugar cube or a cap or two. So don't you con me with your mind expansion slop. I deal with kids every day. I try to clean up the mess that people like you make out of 'em. I'm the expert here, you're not.

It's also interesting to note they don't actually know if he was currently under the influence of marijuana. The evidence they are citing is that he was found to have 7.2-nanogram-per-milliter of THC in his blood, with the state considering 5 ng/ml to be under the influence. But ng/ml of THC is not an accurate way to determine impairment. There really isn't an effective way to measure a person's marijuana intoxication like you can with alcohol, they just went with the closest method because they needed a line they could draw when it was legalized.

Look, if you don't have a tolerance for it, don't eat the edibles and drink.  Even now, after four years daily, I limit myself to two 9% alcohol beers when I eat my edibles.  If you do eat edibles and aren't used to it, you cannot die, the feeling of anxiety and fear will pass.  Deep breaths...I know it's strong the first time.

Marijuana enhances pretty much everything else you ingest.

Enjoy responsibly.

It is interesting that the NRA will fight tooth and nail if anyone claims a suicide or kid shooting his/her brother/sister/friend is a gun death, but the same sort of people (showing my prejudice here) would immediately say that some dumbass falling off of a balcony is a pot-related death.

Well... yeah, making bad judgement calls that kill you is how like 99.999% of drug-related deaths happen, there aren't actually many cases where the drug  itself kills you.  Most alcohol-related fatalities are the same shiat.

The claim that marijuana "doesn't kill anybody" is pure bullshiat fueled by the fact that no one really looks for pot in dead people automatically like they do for alcohol.  Don't take a substance that impairs coordination, judgement, or reaction time and then perform a task that requires a lot of one or more of those things.  This isn't farking rocket science, people.

Just like with guns or a lot of other things, x-related death isn't usually because 'x' is evil, it's because some dipshiat didn't bother to learn how to use 'x' properly or ignored the well-known safety precautions.

// Pro-legalization.  You should get arrested only when you do something that's actually dangerous to those around you while intoxicated, e.g. driving.  Just possessing something not unherently unstable in itself (like explosives), whether it's alcohol, LSD, weed, a duffel bag of cash, a gun with a barrel shroud, etc should not be a legal issue.

Holy shiat. We still have 7,600 aspirin deaths? And yet doctors push that shiat like candy on everyone over about 40.

/how stupid do you have to be to OD on aspirin? Aren't the dangers REALLY well known?

In 1957 a young man working as a waiter smoked one marijuana, it was his first one. He then went home and killed his entire family with an ax. In  1967a young couple let their toddler drown in a bathtub while they were stoned.
Art Linkletter's daughter jumped out of a high rise window because she thought she could fly after smoking one marijuana.
Marijuana - not even once!

It's a travesty that psychedelics and MDMA aren't legal. Drugs with the greatest ability to quickly emotionally heal, provide catharsis for pent up issues in relationships, and when made by legitimate means, are the safest drugs out there. And yet suicide thought inducing SSRIs remain legal; thank god we have legislature to tell me what has medicinal value, otherwise I could have accidentally taken something completely safe that actually helped me.

*A woman named Ivana Fark from Cedar Rapids once read an article in Reader's Digest that used anecdotal evidence to prove that marijuana turned users into axe-murdering Communists.  Ten minutes later, Mrs. Fark was trampled to death by an escaped circus elephant.

*A DEA agent named Seymour Butts used an incident in Colorado involving a stoner falling off a balcony to make the argument that marijuana is a worse threat to America and its precious bodily fluids than a million drunken drivers driving semis full of nuclear warheads.  No more than five minutes later, Mr. Butts was anally raped to death by an army of chimpanzees boozed up on banana daiquiris.

PROOF that using anecdotal evidence to make a political point will lead to a gruesome death.  So there...

How many drunk people have fallen off balconies...?

A student at ASU did just this last Sunday. 10 stories.

I went to Denver last month and ate some weed chocolate. A quarter of a bar. I was really, REALLY high, but nowhere near to the point I'd try playing around on a balcony. I just wanted to go to bed.

Actually, there were 38,000 fatal drug overdoses -- "cases where the drug itself kills you" -- in the U.S. in 2010. It was the leading cause of injury death that year, and caused more deaths among 25-64-year-olds than car crashes did.

I have to wonder if Jim was referring to illegal drugs as opposed to pharmaceuticals, which account for about 60% of your 38,000 deaths.

Cigarettes are the flame, alcohol is the fuse, Oxycontin is the bomb.  So don't you try to equate marijuana to corporate drugs, Nazi Boy, not with me.  You may be able to sell that bullshiat to Dragnet viewers, but not to somebody who's in a battered-woman's shelter while she talks through a bloody mouth about how her policeman husband drove his cruiser home drunk from the bar at 4:00 in the morning and beat her bloody.  And when her husband is sober enough that he can stand up without vomiting on himself, you can bet he has a DARE pamphlet in his pocket and a cigarette or two.  And you can double your money that he has a medicine chest full of narcotics and tranquilizers.  So don't you con me with your drug-free-lifestyle slop.  I deal with delusional authoritarian shiatheads every day.  I try to deal with the mess that tools of Big Pharma make out of society.  I'm the enlightened person here, you're not.

BTW, I heard that Jack Webb died of alcoholism.  Is that true?  I'm surprised that all the cigarettes he smoked on "Drag"net didn't kill him first.  If you've ever watched the original 50s version of Dragnet, it's funny how Chesterfield cigarettes keep popping up every couple of minutes.  Not that Webb was a farking tool of Big Tobacco or Big Booze...

and sleep for a month....

Last time I had any I was keeping it around for my aches and pains, smoking maybe two laced tobacco cigs a month on my nights off.

I had to go out of town for a week and a half, and my now ex wife invited a few people over and smoked up all my "medicine"

after that? I just gave up on trying to keep a little around.

According to wiki: he died of a heart attack in 1982 at the age of 62.
Definitely could have been cigs and booze.
