On the one hand, I feel sad that the dog wound up in Ohio. I wouldn't wish that on a sweet little doggie. On the other hand, Ohio is still better than Texass.

He left Texas because there's a voice that keeps on calling him.  Down the road, that's where he'll always be. Every stop he makes, he makes a new friend, For him, though, he can't stay for long, just turn around and he's gone again

Was he on a tour of one night stands?

Hey, just because they have a canned taste in chili doesn't mean the good stuff over spaghetti isn't a bad idea. Better than canned sauces, better than most jarred sauces.

FTA:  The Butler County Sheriff's Office is hoping to ID this woman who left Corbin at a Hamilton animal shelter overnight. The dog somehow made it from Texas to Ohio in four days.

Perhaps, I'm just thinking, this lady picked up the dog thinking it would be funny to drop it off a few states away. Or maybe she picked it up and was thinking she wanted a dog in her truck cab until she realized she was allergic to the thing.

Yeah. I was always under the impression that it was call 'red' chili because of tomatoes. Fresh, canned, frozen, whatever...if it has tomatoes in it, it is a red chili. 'Chile' based chili is called green chile. And it is far superior to the glorified pasta sauce Texans call chili.

I'm guessing you added that?
Chili was invented by Texans. The Chili Queens of San Antonio, around 1880 to be exact.
A good bowl of red has hardly any tomato, it's all ground red chili.
And who in the hell wants a goddamn SWEET pepper?
Coloradans, that's who.

Mexican women sold Texas chili con carne on the streets, and real texas Chili is only cooked with ground meat and ground up peppers, no tomatoes at all, it is an art form.

Green Chili is considered a New Mexican thing, but it originated in  Mexico.

So all the Mexican/Indians in Mexico originated it all.

So, 500 years of Spanish influence doesn't count? Huh. You can certainly claim Colorado green chile is derivative of New Mexico's version, it is. But it is far superior to the soup they ladle out. We've perfected it. And we have plenty of Mexicans, Texans don't have a monopoly on their cuisine and it's variants. Never eaten a 'red' chili that can compare to green. Might be the pork.
