well, that's right in line with GOP orthodoxy.

2014-04-02 03:01:08 PM
In the second paragraph of his introduction, Abbott cites Charles Murray, a conservative social scientist and fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.

Um... yeah.  And who else would you expect a GOP candidate to cite?  What other social "scientists" would a GOP candidate even know about?

women are inferior to men

Well he's not wrong.

"Family background has the most decisive effect on student achievement, contributing to a large performance gap between children from economically disadvantaged families and those from middle class homes,"
So then you agree we should be doing more to make up the difference for lower socioeconomc families, right?

2014-04-02 04:02:02 PM
I love how these f*cking imbeciles will disregard the findings of hundreds of scientists to focus on the one dumb SOB who managed to get a degree but has an opposing opinion

As a noted scientician, I agree.

Women are clearly inferior. If they weren't, why didn't God make them out of dirt like he did man?

I really thought that by 2014 we would not only have jet packs, but shiat like this would only be heard on lazily written comedy shows.

Yet here we are.

He's right you know.  How many women know how to make a decent sammich?  How many men?  I rest my case.

Nobody does outreach quite like the modern GOP.

There's also that one climate-change denying scientist that they keep trotting out...

Don't be ridiculous.  What we need to do is ensure that divorce is more difficult for women so that they stay in the family unit.  We should end support systems and equality in the workforce to encourage them to stay home with their kids.  We should abolish abortion so that more women have "families." Oh, and don't let the gays get married or adopt because it subverts the traditional family unit.

Yeah....I agree with the premise of his statement

I have a feeling we just have wildly different ideas about whether or not we have to correct it and/or how.

Similar to the "expert witness" often brought into court cases to testify.  It's not uncommon for these folks to lack credentials, or they've been booted out of the profession they were in.

2014-04-02 04:10:59 PM
A Farker pointed out in the Chinese divorce thread that societies that move from primitive agrarian societies to more urban societies see women folk as equals. After a while the pendulum can swing backwards too.

I think this is social cannibalism. We don't make the kind of money we used to so somebody has to be the class to suffer for it.

2014-04-02 04:11:00 PM
It all depends on the task at hand. For example: Writing one's name in the snow with urine. Unless the woman's name is Dot, a guy has a natural advantage.

2014-04-02 04:12:27 PM
Keep talking, Abbott. Keep doing things like this in the public eye. Keep thinking Davis is no competition for you. Please, keep it up.

Davis may not have a good chance this year, but really it's getting to be a matter of time. That chance is slowly growing with each passing week.

2014-04-02 04:14:25 PM
He has a point. Every single thing that even one scientist believes is true is true.

Personally, I prefer the woman-superior position, but I can understand how that might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Lord_Baull: Women are clearly inferior. If they weren't, why didn't God make them out of dirt like he did man?

If that was true, then "dirt > man", and I don't think that one flies.

Of course that would presuppose that "man = dirt" and "woman = man", which would make "dirt = man = woman", and now I've gone cross-eyed

it's a fundamental principle of the conservative mind. you start with a conclusion (iraq WMDs, global climate change hoax, trickle down theory, intelligent design, whatever...) and then you find "facts" to support that conclusion, excluding all others.

it's the reason that republicans are wrong on virtually every issue.

funnily enough, it's the same reason they were so surprised that romney lost the 2012 election.

2014-04-02 04:20:39 PM
...I guess they either want to hand Wendy Davis the governor's chair, or think that Texas is so down-homey Murcan that there's no chance she'd win.  If the latter, I'm gonna guess they're in for a huge surprise in November.

Although if the Republican media thought the latter, they wouldn't be so gung-ho trying to discredit her, would they?

/And yes, NRO etc. are "Republican media", not "conservative media".

Triple Oak: Davis may not have a good chance this year...

The way Abbott's going I wouldn't say that just yet. Remember, after she stumbled right out of the gate it was his diarrhea of the mouth that brought her back into it. If he didn't insist on proving his whacked-out bigotry at every possible turn and could have just stuck to some neutral talking points he'd probably have this wrapped up already, but since he can't zip his lips he's not only picked her up on the track, he's carried her halfway down it.

This is hilarious coming from a Braves/Falcons fan.  Talk about inferior.

Abbott sited a paper that measured the amount of sand a skull from various races and both genders could hold.  Abbott "...the white male skull could hold more sand and thus has a larger superior brain.  We should invest in our strengths."

I love every moment of it. I can only hope that enough voters are watching and freeing up some time this November to do something about it.

It's the same attitude they took with Romney. They get so wrapped up in their own propaganda, only paying attention to Fox News and their own blogs and periodicals, that they convince themselves that they have this huge base of support. They completely forget that the only reason radicals like teahadis ever won spots in the first place is because sane people stayed home.

They aren't winning elections by getting votes, they're winning elections because normal people are staying home. But when they go off on these completely unhinged tears like Abbott's been doing, they risk pissing off the normals enough to get them out to the polls voting against them. They just refuse to admit it because that sort of reality, that they're anything less than perfect and beloved, has no place in the far-right echo chambers.

And how about this?

College gender gap remains stable: 57% women

Men have consistently represented about 43% of enrollments and earned 43% of bachelor's degrees since 2000, says the report by the American Council on Education, a higher-education organization.

listen Libtards, everything you need to know about a woman's role in society, the family and the workplace can be found in the one book you knuckleheads seem to fear the most. How about picking one up and learning the real science of man as written by your Creator.

Now you are being ridiculous abortion needs to be outlawed so there are more white babies to adopt.

Lord_Baull: Women are clearly inferior. If they weren't, why didn't God make them out of dirt like he did man?

God: "First I initiated a massive chemical reaction that would result in a series of proteins and self replicating amino acids. These organic compounds would interact and develop different formations that would reproduce or dissolve depending on their ability to survive in an ever changing environment. Over the course of billions of years, I introduced various indirect catalysts to these formations as they became more complex so as to eventually produce a species with a brain advanced enough to achieve self awareness and perceive abstract concepts."

Moses: "What?"

God: Sigh. "...I made you all out of dirt."

FTFA: "Family background has the most decisive effect on student achievement, contributing to a large performance gap between children from economically disadvantaged families and those from middle class homes," Abbott writes, citing Murray's book Real Education in the footnote.

This is true, but where Republicans believe that this means people with money are superior and the poors are destined to remain that way, people who aren't retarded realize that economic advantage can be corrected for.

Hey it's a combo deal with how blacks and Latinos are also inferior.
