Why would watching something be impressive?  Doing something, sure, but watching it be done?

Why would the Amish have a video camera ?

So someone built it the wrong way?

It was impressive feet until they dropped it in the wrong spot.  Every crack and splinter I heard made me wince.

They were like a human centipede.  But don't google that.

Fun to watch. I wonder why the unnecessary profanity from the woman with the camera.

That's one good reason for building houses out of flimsy tinder.

Though like the rest of USA, it'll blow away when ever there's a gust of wind like usual + suck when its either hot or cold.

One of my middle-school teachers was a Mennonnite. Strictest muthafarker I've ever dealt with in my life.

Mennonnites are sort of "Amish-lite". For example, the teacher I mentioned drove a mid-80s shiatbox car (this was in the mid-late 90s) and taught computer class, so he at least wasn't completely devoted to shunning any post-19th-century technology. But he was a colossal asshole.

I know what you mean, Subby. I watched someone jogging this morning and I'm exhausted.

Now try it with plumbing inside the house.

This.

I paused it when they got to the slab and can't see a single plumbing stub-out or opening for sewer anywhere.

While they are in the minority, there are still Amish sects that don't use indoor plumbing.

Little known fact: Amish were originally called Amish Mennonite because they were a sect of Mennonite.

I guess you've got to have been a kid sitting on his bike once.

You lost me. My initial comment was only about the grammatical failure of the headline.

/does "initial comment" get boobied?

The act of watching, in itself, is not impressive. The activity that you are watching may be impressive.  Your kid, riding his bike for the first time?  Impressive.  You, WATCHING him ride his bike?  Not impressive. any goomba can stand there and gawk.

Based on the sentence structure of the headline, "watching" is the impressive feat, not the 80 Amish picking up and moving the house.

Take away the relgiosity, and there is a lot to be said for the Amish community. In Indiana, after some Amish neighborhoods were ruined after a tornado, they picked up and rebuilt themselves. No government assistance or anything.
