To be "replaced" anually I'm sure when the original one gets too old.

Soon to become world's fattest dog.

Yeah, I saw this story on another blog and commenters were going off how this was bad for the dog because it will not have an "Alpha".

The poor dog will wind up being confused. It will likely grow to like some people more than others but wonder why his "favorite" doesn't stick around. And while I'm sure no one will physically abuse the dog, the dog will be harmed psychologically.

Wait, dogs can be communal?  I always just sort of assumed they were all anarcho-syndicalists.

Mr. Fuzzypaws: Soon to become world's fattest dog.

Definitely.  English Bulldogs are already lazy and tend to go fat.  He's gonna have a 100 people a day giving him biscuits.

I certainly hope this is a joke.

What a monumentally stupid idea.

That said, I do have a neighbour that has a "dog share" with one other person.  The dog goes between the two homes on a bi-monthly basis and the "co-owners" share responsibilities, care, training, general maintenance.

Bad idea.  Dogs are not toys or novelties and they appreciate a stable routine.

Is it just me, or is the author seriously scoffing at "bike parking" in the first paragraph?

Just make sure his breath doesn't smell like peanut butter when you get him from the neighbor.

This is so sad for that poor puppy. First off, they couldn't have picked a more trouble prone breed - English bull dogs have all sorts of health problems that random apartment tenants will probably not take the time to research and respect. For instance, taking them outside when it's too hot/humid can be life threatening. And they have really bad joint problems so shouldn't be walked too often (and definitely not up and down stairs all the time). Plus like others have mentioned, it will become overweight because no one will respect that they can't just keep giving it cookies all day and will be psychologically damaged because it doesn't know who its supposed to be looking to for direction.

What a horrible disaster.

As opposed to what other kind of disaster?
