Until you accidentally glance at the Luxor at night.

I'm sure it fits right in with the other eyesores in that town. That thing in London should be dynamited.

When I read headlines like this I weep for the memories of TMLO and the fun he brought.

'Didn't the mods have any better options for a great article?

Who the hell forgot to put the numbers up?

Whoah. I saw it during construction. I never knew they were going to get rid of the blue support trusses and just use steel cables!

It's meta. It's actually an April Fools joke, but today, which isn't the right day...which makes it funny I guess.

Way too expensive to ride, especially for a low-thrill, high volume ride.

The wheel at capacity would make about $56k an hour.

Also, there are plenty of places in Vegas to get a view of that shiatstain city. The London Eye is pretty much the only option and that city is actually worth seeing.

Really?  What are you going to see, except some casinos, subdivisions, and a bunch of desert?

Wonder what will happen if there is a power failure or a mechanical issue that stops the wheel?

As somebody who used to live in Vegas, I must ask: are there any views in Vegas worth seeing?  There's a couple cool looking buildings on the strip, but aside from that, by in large, the city of Las Vegas is one of the most boring cities I have ever been to.

$25 bucks to ride a ferris wheel?  $60 for an "express pass"?

Ha ha!  Fark you, Las Vegas.

The view on the one that goes straight up the top of the Stratosphere at night is absolutely amazing.  The one that hangs you over the edge is definitely scary.  New York New York's coaster is ok.

You have mountains and desert that is actually quite interesting and beautiful, especially to those from the East & Midwest.

Imagine a ferris wheel of this size in the middle of downtown Des Moines, Indianapolis, Omaha, or Milwaukee, and you'll start to see how interesting Las Vegas can be.

25 bucks seems Vegas-reasonable for a 550-ft lift/30 minute ride on the world's tallest ferris wheel. I imagine it would be extremely cool at sunset, or at night, rather than mid day.

I do agree that the mountains and desert are beautiful; though, the cynical side of me has to mention that unless its a nice, windy day, the air in Vegas is often too dirty to really see much of anything.  My memories of living there were pretty much that of living in a constant haze...

Fun fact: the ride attraction was actually invented by my great grandfather, who was a big wheel down at the circus.

I saw the base of Orlando's wheel last week, on I-Drive near the convention center. It's supposed to open later this year. You're going to be able to see flat land for miles, tourists! *guffaws*

I do disagree with that. I've ridden the London Eye and the view is amazing and it was a real thrill on one of the best days of my life. It's right next to the London Aquarium and close to the Tate Modern Museum in a built-up tourist district with many new attractions. May as well say let's remove all the modern art from the Tate because it's a historic building. I enjoyed the juxtaposition of the old and new. To each their own...

There are. Saw them when I went by there Monday on my way to failing to cash in one of the DSE events after Interop.

How hard would it be to number the cars, spin the wheel and take bets?

I did like the VIP paaes I got once for the roller coaster at th NYNY. my friend and I cut the whole line, the attendant asked us what seats we wanted, we said the first. The attendant asked those seated there to "Get out". The riders said they were there first, the attendant said "Doesn't matter, VIPs". They got out, we were in front. Only roller coaster I'd been on that made my neck hurt for the rest of the trip. Karma, I guess. And I'd broken my spine previously in a car wreck. Went through the body cast/ spinal fusion surgery bit.

Yeah, but in Las Vegas this sort of thing is basically just a giant billboard to draw people onto the property, and into the casino.  Like the volcano, fountains, pirate show, etc.  At least it's revenue generator.
