If elected I promise not to make you think about me performing cunnilingus on anyone.

Sybarite

Right for Toronto! No cunnilingus!

The group that did those has a website, they are one of a handful of groups with the same basic "anyone but Ford" message.  Gotta give some props here though, this opening shot was brilliant, there were 3 different signs...

There is another group with a drop-in sit-in going just outside the Mayors office that has gotten under the skin of the Mayor's brother, (his campaign manager and current ward 2 Councillor) when this pic got some love last week...

The crux is as a mayor he's done a decent job, and they could do worse politically, Eh?

The thing about the tragically stupid is if you shame them, they double down on their position. Profoundly stupid humans are like honey badgers, they'd rather cut off a limb intentionally than listen to your smarmy opinion not to juggle chainsaws.

So can someone in Canada tell me: Has he actually done a decent job with doing mayor things? Like with budgets and city management and stuff?  All I hear is that he's basically a Canadian Kennedy, but without all the charm or whatever, but nothing about how the city's actually being run.

Except he hasn't. Even a little.

He is an 'on message savant'.  He claims to be a fiscal conservative, and tossed out the Scarborough LRT (fully funded by other levels of government, and a more extensive network) for "Subways, Subways, Subways"  a three stop extension to the existing line that will cost Torontonians an extra billion dollars over the LRT plan and reach fewer people.
Many of his "savings" have been by raiding reserve funds and switching or increasing user fees.  Other "savings" are being realized by leaving city staff positions unfilled.  The understaffed departments get grief for underperforming, but no staff to fix the problems.
I could go on, there are dozens more things he's bullshiated his way through this term... but wall of text and all that.

And...  the budgets he's taking credit for, with claims of billion dollar savings... he's actually voted against the last three city budgets.  And several have had a go at his math. the Globe&Mail, the Star, the Grid

Thanks for that. I realize that "Rob Ford is a bad person" is a great way to go about doing things, but it just seems like they're setting themselves up for possible failure by only attacking his personal life and not really discussing the issues of him doing mayor-type-things.  Face it, lots of crappy people have led cities, states and countries through prosperous times. I don't really care how much crack my mayor has smoked, if my city's doing well and everything, then it's all good.  Puff away, scratchy man.

There is a core group of about 25-30% of Toronto, "Ford Nation", that have that exact attitude, or at least seem to. They are largely a group that feel disenfranchised by "the System" and see the anti-System Ford as their savior.  Meanwhile he's increasing user fees, and gutting budgets for subsidized housing, and school meal programs...  But he'll answer your call, get your problem dealt with (Toronto has a 311 number for that, but he asks everyone to call him personally.)

The answer is probably yes for anyone asking the question.

Wow, the right wing bias of RYOT comes into play when it makes the Chow ads look somehow comparable in content to the Ford ads. That's the sort of lying - making all candidates look like similar targets - that got Ford elected in the first place.

There is a very good chance the Chow "ad" is tied to/generated from the 'parody' twitter account NOlivia Chow, which is in turn connected to Nick Kouvalis who has generated a whole series of one note anti-Chow websites.  He was Ford's Campaign manager last time and briefly Chief of Staff in Ford's office after the election. He's working for John Tory this time.

Then why link the others at all?  Especially given the tone set by Kouvalis against Chow for Tory?
A better question would be why isn't Sarah Thomson on there, she has a bit higher profile than many of the others listed.
Websites don't cost much and the signs were done for free.  So what money?

TheGogmagog: The crux is as a mayor he's done a decent job, and they could do worse politically, Eh?

No.  A decent job would be having a vision for the city, and gathering support and compromise among councillors towards implementing that vision.  A decent job entails listening to the objections and moving to correct them.  It involves co-operating with and supporting city staff in fulfilling their objectives.

Instead, he doesn't even show up for debate and questions, having already made up his mind how he'll vote. (Porter and Billy Bishop)

He demonizes and discounts anyone who dares disagree. (Too numerous to list),

And flies off the handle and does his own thing regardless of there already being a system in place to handle it. (Potholes - 311, Hollywood Trip vs. Toronto Film, Television and Digital Media Office )

sure "Free" signs.

you link the others to make it seem legitimate, you link ones that you dont perceive a valid threat and that anything they do have, you can easily explain away.

you dont link the ones that you know can destroy you

Exactly, thanks for the link, btw, I'd not seen that before.  It's not even him they are really voting for, it's the idea he represents. And he is relentlessly on message to play to that.

I don't think that should count against him(well lots of other stuff would).  I don't think public urination should be illegal nor even looked down upon.  There is nothing wrong with public urination other than with the offending of certain people's sensitive moralities.

Now Rob Ford is too amusing.  Take one for the team Canada.  We suffered through 8 years of such a man as PRESIDENT.  Rob Ford is just a mayor.  Let us have a few laughs.  It's our turn.
