Oh yeah, It seems I may have made up some or all of this story...ok, all of it...for April Fools Day!

Thank god. The first one is a cult classic. The second one was a paltry attempt at capturing the fun of the first one. Let it go.

It won't be the same without Aaron McGruder.

Please make a new one and call it "Boondock Saints 2".

I can easily pretend that the second one that currently exists never existed in the first place.

But that's why there needs to be another one - to redeem the second one.  I know it's a long shot at a third movie being any good, but we'd all feel a lot better.

Nah, I saw it in the theater.  I actually didn't mind it.  The only thing that really bothered me is whatever Sean Patrick Flannery did to his face.

Aww Romeo's crying...

Yep, pretty much this. The second one would have been an 'OK' film on its own, but it doesn't do the first one justice, and some sequels have to be stronger than the first movie to really be noteworthy.

As long as they learned from their mistake from 2, then I'll for sure redbox it.

Agreed.  For example, Rambo.

I knew from the start that you can't bottle lightening twice, so I wisely steered clear of the second movie when it hit theatres.

The first was just a perfect storm of craziness and cast, there's no way it could happen again.

I DLed it so I didn't spend a dime to be disappointed, there was no way it would have been as good as the first. I was right.

However it wasn't as horrible as most in this thread were saying. It sure as hell was a lot better than 90% of the crap that comes out now a days.

No it wasn't. It was terrible. Even laying aside the comparisons to BS1, BS2 was just an utterly bad movie.

I could think of 50-100 movies that have come out right around that time or since then that were complete shiat.

BS2 is better than all of them.

Now, should it have been made? No. Was it even close to 1? Hell no.

But I would rather watch that than any of the Hangover series? Absolutely.

2014-04-01 10:31:47 PM
Not sure how to feel about this

William Defoe lost his shiat in the first one

2014-04-01 11:17:02 PM
I guess I'll find some gratuitous violence elsewhere.

2014-04-01 11:52:31 PM
The documentary on Troy Duffy's implosion was better than both flicks.

2014-04-02 01:39:11 AM
I've seen the original over 200 times.  Seriously.  I could recite the entire movie, line by line.

I didn't rent the 2nd one, I figured I'd just buy the DVD outright, it had to be good, right?

Yeah...it would seem nobody told Troy Duffy that camp and satire are fun in moderation.  He made that entire film one big campy, giant, mess.  I made it about 30 minutes into it; took the DVD out, and threw it away.

To this day it is the only movie I have never finished once I started it.

The thing with capturing magic on film (or music or any other artistic medium) is that you can't THINK about doing it. It happens spontaneously. With part 2, Duffy tried to make another part 1, which was a huge mistake. The Ron Jeremy and Ricky cameos are somewhat inside jokes for those into porn and Trailer Park Boys (for coolness factor), and the hot blond from Dexter was just a replacement for William Defoe's character. These factors don't really make a good plot/movie, just a rehash of what was already created. It seemed like the 2 leads were just going through the motions as well... No real effort was put in to make it an original and stand-alone movie, which is what a good sequel should be.

2014-04-02 04:19:30 AM
Part 1 is not everyone's cup of tea, but I liked it. It's a good movie for St. Paddy's Day...

2014-04-02 06:44:42 AM
Really?  The second one wasn't bad enough?

2014-04-02 09:26:25 AM
I wanted the third Boondock Saints movie to be about them recruiting characters from other movies into their now international hit squad.  Frank from "God Bless America" just had a dream sequence of that final scene, and Clyde Shelton  from Law Abiding Citizen get saved by Eunice Bloom through his tunnel.

Are you sure? I heard they were thinking about doing a whole trilogy based on the life of Annakin Skywalker. This was a few years back though, so I don't know if it ever got finished or what.

I hope they do a fourth Indiana Jones soon. Ford and Connery are getting old!
