And I honestly don't remember this conflict at all.

Too wrapped up in Iraq and hoping Dubya would lose I suppose...

Ah, Darfur.  And a conflict that's basically been going on forever.

Filter check; Ronald Eisenhower and Dwight Eisenhower.

Is Darfur still a thing?

What a difference (or lack thereof, at the same time) a decade makes. Most of the humanitarian aid has dried up, the government was arming Arab militias, but now Darfur is one of the most oil-rich places in the country, because the non-Arabic folks in the south (where the rest of the oil is) fecked off to declare independence (because they were sick of Muslims terrorising them). Millions of people ran for their lives after this story. Half the people left are kids at the mercy of anyone with a gun. Slavery is still a thing. All in a place that's roughly where Afroasiatic languages (Arabic and Hebrew, frex) were probably born, so kinda of historic interest.

Basically, stay the fark out of the Sudans.

A while back I heard there were only seven nations on the world left without being part of the global controlled network of central banks. The list had Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya on it then. Now I think it is down to Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Cuba.
