I've discussed before how Bayern tend to do worse against teams that they should easily beat (going in with the mindset that it'll be an easy victory and not really trying), but I can't see Bayern falling to United, especially not over two rounds. United at home is still United at home, I'm going to go for a 2-1 victory for Bayern

I really have no idea who will between Atletico and Barcelona, that will probably be the one that is most up in the air.

Madrid v Dortmund, I think Dortmund possess the ability to win this one, but I'm not sure if they possess the heart. They've been slipping all season in the Bundesliga and every time they regain their feet, they fall again. I'd love to see a repeat of last year, but Madrid is going to be looking to stop that.

PSG has been underrated throughout this campaign, I think we're going to see them truly step it up here and hand Chelsea a heavy defeat in the first round. Chelsea is not an easy opponent for them, but they certainly possess the skill.

Now that the title is wrapped up in the Bundesliga, I expect Bayern's focus on this game (and the remaining CL campaign) to be total.

And I would LOVE to see Chelsea lose.

Yeah they rested Neuer and a few other stars, which cost them a draw at home ending their winning streak, but I'm fine with them focusing on the Champions League and Pokal now, it's what they need to do. Streaks are cool, trophies are cooler.

Yep, I guarantee that neither Pep nor the team care about a perfect record. Not at the expense of winning the Champions League.

Welp, just saw the Utd lineup. The one place where Bayern just might conceivably be a teeny bit vulnerable is if you can run at their center backs with pace. So naturally Moyes leaves Januzaj and Kagawa on the bench and packs the side with slow old guys.

Not optimistic.

Same.  Can't stand the thought of them winning the UEFA Champions and the English Premier League.

I don't favor any specific teams in this.  I want to see some really good matches, so I'm really looking forward to this Man Utd match against Bayern Munich.

I agree. Form means nothing in this one.

Not sure if serious.

I am predicting Bayern 3-0. That seems to be the preferred scoreline any time United goes up against a top team recently.

Since their previous three matches this season all ended in draws, 0-0 or 1-1 is probably a good bet for Barcelona-Atletico.

Good thing I'm missing this game, just say no to Gus Johnson.

Seems reasonable, if Bayern take their foot off the accelerator once they have three away goals in the bag.

I've read a lot of articles on David Moyes this season, and this is one the very best.

I'm optimistic Bayern know they won't have to peak here, so maybe two 4-0 victories, or something like that.

I should be angry at the headline, but I think Subby nailed it.

/Man Utd fan.

I just saw United's lineup. That defense. I may have to revise my prediction. 5 or 6-0 isn't out of the question. Jones, Vidic, Ferdinand, and Buttner vs. Ribery, Muller, Kroos, and Robben is going to be farcical.

I wish their was an SAP function that was cockney rhyming slang.

Barcelona opt to drop Pedro  and go with Iniesta and Neymar partnering Messi in the front 3. Personally, I would have dropped Neymar, but I guess when you are the most expensive transfer in the club's history, you get to start the big matches even if you have been below average for months.

Over/under on when Utd concede the first goal?

15 minutes, and I'm going to take the over.

Well, at least Welbeck hit the target. Better than he usually manages.

/Buttner us going to get crucified tonight

The biggest difference between this year and last year for Man Utd is simple

van Persie goals
12/13 - 26
13/14 - 11

That's 10 points at least in those 15 goals. Some times i feel like i'm the only one who has noticed that Blue Steel is the same as Magnum.

The fact that US based MUFC fans have to hear Gus Johnson while watching their team suck vs Bayern actually makes me feel kind of sorry for them.

Oh crap, I thought the matches started at 3:45.... miss anything big in the first 20?

I see Moyes is going for the battle tested 1-10-0-0 formation.

Utd have to stop giving the ball away almost as soon as they get possession.

I know they think their best chance to score is on a quick break, but the quick break isn't always on.

Damn, good save, thought that was going in.

Is anyone else having issues with FS1? Damn channel is acting like it's buffering.

Real player didn't act this shiatty. Checked other stations, this is the only one doing it

Utd look like they have a goal in them. If they can get a precious home goal they might have a chance.

Neuer is just a beast

2014-04-01 03:25:33 PM
Welbeck, you useless lump!

2014-04-01 03:25:48 PM
Really?  You couldn't just keep it on the ground and blow by him?  You had to try to chip it over him?  Way to fail, dude.

2014-04-01 03:26:34 PM
Welbeck had so much time and space to run right past nueur there. Awful miss

2014-04-01 03:27:21 PM
Even if Neuer hadn't gotten to that, the defender would have. That was just Danny being Danny.

Can we take Fellaini and Giggs off at half time and bring on Kagawa and Januzaj?

2014-04-01 03:34:39 PM
Bayern should be down one, as they should have been at half at the emirates. Teams are going to need to be just a teeny bit more clinical if anyone wants to stop the from being back to back champs

czetie: Can we take Fellaini and Giggs off at half time and bring on Kagawa and Januzaj?

I didn't think fellaini looked too bad out there. Gave up possesion a few times but looked solid at breaking up play through the middle. Giggs needs to be shelved though

2014-04-01 03:55:18 PM
Utd are starting to frustrate Bayern. Gaps may open up as they press for a goal.

Dare I say that Bayern actually look a little unsettled?

Barca and Bayern down at the moment.
